Went and got my hair flat ironed today, and am quite pleased with the results. (Compare to my avatar pic from Oct 29, 2007)
This is the first time actually getting an iron, and the seemingly extra length was more than enough to make me smile.
I'm hoping to pull a full low ponytail by the end of July. I only have about another inch and a half to go before the front reaches there. Thanks everyone for the motivation to keep the scissors at bay, and best of luck to the several newcomers on this site who are in the awkward stage. Stick it out guys, it's worth the wait!
And also, if it isn't too much trouble, I'd like to use this pic as my new avatar since my current one is more than 6 months old. Thanks again,
Pat M.
Not the metal iron. Metal irons = bad.
Looks really great, nice length. So using a ceramic straightener once won't hurt? I was thinking about doing it once to see what it would look like and to see my hairs true length.
Thanks. I've been told an occasional use of a ceramic flat-iron is relatively harm free for your hair and the results are well worth it. At least in my opinion anyway. I'd say go ahead and get yours straightened also. I never knew my hair reached past my shoulder blades in back until I had it straightened.
Hey Pat, your hair certainly is growing fast and looks very good indeed! You will be pulling that ponytail off in a few short months it looks like. Keep up the great work!
Cheers,
Max
Thanks! I'm glad the waiting is finally paying off. I've worn ponytails in the past, but of course I had to bolt my hair down with hairspray to make it look presentable, otherwise it was the fast lane to a bad hair day.
Thanks. Best wises for you as well.
Looking very nice Pat, July should be easy for a ponytail!
Bruce
I'm hoping for July also. Once I'm able to tie my tail, i'll be sure to post new pics. Thanks again.
Hi Pat, The length is definitely there and you are so close to ponytail status I agree. It looks good man.
Kevin
Thanks. Can't wait to not have to use hairspray when tying a tail.
Hi Pat,
Your hair looks superb, and you have come such a long ways in a short period of time. be sure to keep it growing!
Keep it growing,
David
My hair seems to grow on average 3/4 inch per month, and don't worry... My hair is afraid of scissors.
Recently changed my goal from mid back to waist length.
Looks fine to me. I would be afraid to use heat on my hair though. It seems to be a bit dry at the ends.
I've read about using flatirons frequently and the damage they can cause if you're not careful.
I was more-so curous this time what I would look like with completely straight hair, and now I know (and like it). I do not plan on frequent usage of a flatiron, especially since I am not far away from being able to tie a low tail.
I avoid metal flatirons, and will only consider ironing for special occasions and on low heat setting.
Thanks again.
You are really making great progress.....I look forward to the first ponytail photo !!
Thanks for Sharing

I'm looking forward to it too. Hopefully it won't be long (wait, let me rephrase that) before I will be able to tie it without hairspray. And of course, the day I am able to tie a tail is the day I post a pic on here.
And I can well see why as your hair is really starting to take-off big time and is looking great! Alas, this "waiting game" we all have to go through to achieve long hair. But the wait is well worth it as you will be finding out. That 1st ponytail IS now on the horizon for you in the not so distant future all things considered.
Thanks for the photo edit. Looks much better and the hair color is almost exact. My webcam seems to have a problem with color saturation, always seems overexposed.
And as far as the waiting game, I'm glad I've gotten as far as I have and am now starting to see results. Once I get the ponytail, I'll be smiling my way back to the new topic button once again thanks to the support of MLHH and its members.
Thanks again.
Hi Pat,
You hair is certainly coming along and it looks alot longer from your old avatar and in great condition. As you say it won't be long before you can put in a ponytail and that's another on the longhair road. It's great to see that you have kept away from the scissors and great growth so far. Keep it growing and always great to see your updates.
Cheers,
John.B
The difference in length from now and from my avatar pic is the inspiration for leaving the scissors in the back of the drawer. Now that the ponytail is within only a few months, nothing should get in the way of growing it more.
I've also decided I want to go longer than my original goal of mid back length, and am now going for waist length. Should be a bit easier now that I believe I graduated the awkward phase.
Thanks again and take care.
Excellent hair, Pat, and great progress since the length in your avatar! Some more great milestones are headed your way in the near future. Keep up the good work!
