Hi Kevin,
I'm was just catching up on things and saw you comment down the board about the beer festival in Reading this weekend. Thank you for your kind words about the post and as I've made mention before I'm not one to head for the dye bottle monthly!
Anyone would think a beer festival is my second home lol, but there is nothing wrong with enjoying a few ales with friends. I hope that one day that you can visit one of our beer festivals and enjoy the great range of ales they have their and meet the rest of the metal drunking fratunity in Berkshire! You don't have to worry as I did ask permission from Ross to post the picture here had no issues with that!
Don't forget there will an opportunity to drink more great german beer at Wacken in Germany this summer!
Cheers,
John.B
Oh how I wish I could go! Leaves' Eyes is playing there, as is Arch Enemy! And Iron Maiden!!!
If you go, tell me what 'tis like!
Aye, ive been saving to go to wacken for years. I got $700 so far (would have more, but i keep buying guitar gear), but im planning on getting about $2000 together fot the trip. i think that should work...i hope.
Hi Kane
I can tell you air fare is around $1200 right now so brace yourself, not to mention the dollar is falling against the Euro so think more like $2400. Not sure how the Canadian $ is doing against
the Euro though.
It's a lifetime experience do try and make it at least once it's great.
Kevin
Didn't expect that much cash, but im thinking about going a few years down the road so cash isnt to big an issue right now. I also have no problem spending that much cash, I've wanted to go to wacken for years and nothing is going to stop me, not even a high price.
Thanks for the info, ill start saving even more now.
Kane
Not to worry I'll have pics and stories and a bit of video.
Kevin
Carcass is playing, not Arch Enemy. I actually just sold my Wacken ticket to buy one for Graspop instead. Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Immortal, Iced Earth, Morbid Angel, Testament, and even Kiss will be there amongst many others. Went to Wacken last year and it was awesome, this year's line up isn't too strong though.
I agree with you on that one. Last year was a blast this year we'll be spending more time at the camp site I think. Morbid angel was amazing last year and I would like to make more of their shows over here.
Kevin
Morbid Angel wasn't at Wacken last year, they were at 2006 if I remember correctly. Last year was Immortal, Iced Earth, and Blind Guardian. My personal favorites were Cannibal Corpse and Municipal Waste. Corpsegrinder is one of the best frontmen I have ever seen and Municipal Waste have the craziest circle pits and boogie boarding crowdsurfers I've ever seen.
Trying to remember and you are right glad someone can keep their years in order. I remember 2005 distinctly as it rained a lot and was very muddy but 07 and 06 sort of run together in my memory.
Thanks for your attention to detail.
Kevin
Well Wacken is not just about the bands but meeting up with old friends from all over Europe/USA and having a great time.
Cheers,
John.B
High!
And, hopefully, also Mambo Kurt with his Yamaha Electone D-85 highmorgel!
See you in Khyberspace!
Yadgar
Oh god Mambo Kurt and that other silly band and over rated "bagpipes song"!
I think it's German law you can't have Wacken without Mambo Kurt.
LOL
Kevin
High!
Mambo Kurt RULES... the man who brought the 1970s analogue non-Hammond organ back from oblivion! Needless to say that I myself own several of them (one Yamaha Electone, one Eminent and two Technicses)... and in the not-too-distant future there might be an album of Yes covers (and Yes-style own compositions) arranged and played exclusively on those cheesy walnut chests - perhaps I'll even find some other home organ-playing Yes fans to form a home organ trio called, let say, "Schindleria Praematurus"...
See you in Khyberspace!

So John that was in Reading just up the road from you. I too am not so much for the drinking for it's own sake as the hanging out with people. I'm looking forward to Wacken also and there will be much beer and or Vodka consumed there I'm sure.
Cheers
Kevin
