I've been so occupied with other things that I've had scant time to make any updates. These pictures go in order from newest at the top, having been taken in the past few weeks, all the way back to December of 2006 at the bottom. The next to the last is from May of 2007, the middle ones from around December of 2007.
I hope these html tags work!
Thanks you guys for all the encouragement along the way, and I'm just happy to be a part of the board. I seem to have lost my special "vampire contacts," thus the reversion to the omnipresent sunglasses during daylight.

Wow you've made a lot of progress, i remeber seeing updates from you before and never commenting, so sorry for that.
Touche! I don't know if I've ever made comments to your updates either! I don't make many comments to younger guys because that seems creepy somehow. Thanks just the same, and don't be sorry.

Everything is coming along nicely, Matt. I especially think the facial hair goes well with your type of hair. Here's to many more months of growth!
Peace,
Ryan
Thanks! We have similar hair, so I've enjoyed seeing your progress as well.
Yes, many more months.
Great update man. Hair looks very healthy. To many more inches.
Thanks Quester, everytime I see you name I think "quaestor," as in a Roman official! The hair should be healthy as all I really do is wash, condition, and comb it. I hope I can get a good many more inches out of it. I'd be satisfied with about twice this length.

Hey Matt,
I've really been looking forward to your update. Your ringlets are starting to show some nice length now and look fantastic. I bet they go a lot further down your back when stretched out as well.
It's heartening also to see your recovery from what amounted to almost a forced cutting due to your previous job.
Keep it growing!
Jason
Thanks Jason,
Coming from the guru of perfect hair, your praise means a lot. It is deceiving, the actual length is nearly to the center of the shoulder blades when wet and not even tilted back. It is heartening to see some recovery, but the memory is becoming so distant and I've really forgiven the situation and all the bad memories associated therewith!

Hi Matt,
Well, I have to say it's about time you blessed us with an update! Your ringlets are awesome, and you have come a long ways from when you had to go through that haircutting episode. Be sure to keep everything growing, including the beard!
All the best,
David
Thanks David N!
Ringlets may be seem awesome, but would you beleive they start trying to dread up after about two days if it isn't all combed out? I'm happy with it though. You know, I am kind of ambivalent about the beard lately. I actually just cut all the beard back to about 1/4 inch. I have toyed with growing it long then get tired of it. I'm glad I don't have that kind of attitude toward my head hair though.
Thanks, Matt B.
Great hair and beard!
I'm a kind of slacker aswell having done only two updates (October/April) so far, so don't mind...thanks for commenting at mine back then.
We have similar types of hair, your curls look awesome and it seems you take good care of them. For how long have you been growing out your hair? I'm at 30 months now.
Good luck!
Herb2992
I have been growing 24 months as of Saturday from a short/medium length cut. I probably had about four inches max of hair all around about two years ago. The longest hair now is about 15 inches. 11 inches in two years is slightly below the 1/2 inch per month, but whatever.
Thanks for the compliments!

This update was well worth the wait. Love the curls. Your hair looks really great!
My Hair Site
Thanks Franny G!
I need to try some of your braiding techniques next. I tried to do some small braids of the hair above each ear one day -- sort of a modified Legolas style, but then couldn't think of any way to secure the ends. I'll keep thinking on it.

Hello slacker!
A great update and the what a transformation and you hair is coming along great and the ringlets look great. Look forward to the next update!
Cheers,
John.B
Thanks John! Always good to hear from you and I hope all is well in London-town.
Very nice update, Matt! Your curls rock. =D
Hope you're doing well and that your finals aren't too bad.
-James
Oi Jaime,
HAHA! I finished finals last week! Only one true final, but mostly writing assignments. I almost dropped the ball on one but then ended up Ok by the power of averages. Sometimes you just run out of time, ya know?
Good luck on your finales too. And thanks for the compliments!

Dude...you're definitely getting some length! Looks great. Your beard in the second to last picture is flat out KILLER! And hey man...slackers are people, too! Long hair and beards forever!! :-)
~gman
Thanks Garth,
I agree, I did like the beard length in the next to the last picture. That was approximately one year ago. I've gone through several iterations since then.
Thanks again, and glad to see you back here,
MB
Nice update Matt, I like the curls although curly hair takes what seems like forever to grow long it's worth it when you get there.
Take Care
Kevin
Thanks, it does seem like it takes forever. Maybe it will be worth it!
MB
Great update, Matt. Your curls and beard look awesome!
Keep it growin'.
Joshua
Thanks Joshua!
I am keeping it growing!
MB
Matt, congratulations on your progress I think your hair looks awsome
Tes
Thanks, but awesome may be too bold a term, maybe just "not so bad after all" as Peppermint Patty used to say.
MB
Looks really good Matt. If you are trying to pull of the longhaired "professional" it's working ;-))
Tom
Thanks Tom,
I never thought about the "professional" aspect of it. I suppose I am very conservative in dress and mores with the longer hair as the only indicator of non-conformism to the hegemony. Yeah, makes sense.
MB
Hi Matt, I think this photo shows your curls off the best. You have good length now. Keep it growing.
Scott
Thanks Scott,
I do like this greater length more and more as it all just stays behind my shoulders for the most part and is really low maintenance and easy to make look decent. I am planning on keeping it growing but was debating a slight trim to make the ends look fuller as it has grwon back from essentially what was a layered cut and some of the ends are scanty, but no splits or damage at all. I am really satisfied in that respect.
Wow great update matt! You've got beautiful hair with nice curls. The akward days are over just keep on growing now.
Thanks Vincent! I am not sure if the awkward stage is gone, but I will beleive it into being so hopefully. I can tie it all back securely, so maybe that is a positive indication.
MB
Hi Matt great pics!I can't seem to remember when I last saw update pics from you but hey better late than never. The curls look very cool.I like the one where you tilted your head to show off the length. Some say thats cheating but its a nice was to display your hair.Anyway I'm glad you were able to squeeze in an update as they are always nice to see.Take care my friend.
Mark
I'm not surprised you can't remember the last update because frankly I can't either. It might have been Dec '06 when I posted any substantial pictures.
Thanks Mark. Also, good to have you on the team behind the scenes.

Very cool indeed Matt! I especially like the one that is full on from the front with the grey in your beard showing. It really shows your growth, and is very Jerry Garcia-esque
Thanks Todd,
You know the Jerry Garcia allusion is a recurring comment that I have gotten a good many times. Also I get the Jesus and Cat Stevens and others, but I really appreciate them all, in all seriousness. I think it's cool as can be! I'm thinking about getting a hat like Ronnie VanZant used to wear and go for that look too. Someone was saying I ought to color the beard and hair to cover the grey/white, but I will hear nothing of it. I've earned every damn white hair on my head!
Thanks, and good luck on your performances,
MB
You have some great lookin waves/curls going there Matt!
Frank
Thanks Frank! Sometimes, depending on the weather, I get curls, sometimes more waves. Always fun. Can't wait from an update from you too. You have some great hair as well.
MB
Great photos Matt and does your hair EVER have a wonderful colour. Just fabulous! Glad it is growing back so well. Thanks so much for sharing this very special update with all of us.
Justin~
Thanks Justin. I am glad too! So you think brown with white highlights is cool?
MB
Lookin' TERRIFIC there, Matt, --- and yes, it's long overdue indeed!!!
Well, I was intending on just lurking this morning; but, you brought me out of the shadows and into the light of day.... A great update can do that. So can a former fellow moderator, "partner-in-crime" (lol)!!
Take care, --- and keep it growin'!
- Ken
If it will bring you out of lurking into posting more then I'll have to make more updates. We sure do miss you here. Don't work too hard.
Thanks too!
MB
Hey Matt, great update. That long curly hair and the beard absolutely suit you...looks great. Thanks for YOUR motivation!
Cheers,
Max
Thanks Herc!
MB
You know my last name.....
"slackin" can be a way of life you know !! HA!
You have come a long way and if I am correct you are now ahead (poor choice of words) of where you were before "the incident". It seems fuller to me this time around and the natural look suits you well (headed towards Nuttidaveville??).
Great to see your update.
Thanks for Sharing
Walter
That's pretty funny. I didn't even think of that being your last name. You know that is strange how names come to be. A "Carter" made carts; a "Collier" dealt in coal; a "Smith" etc. Strange.
I am indeed ahead of where I was two years ago. There is no hope in rivaling Nuttidave though, but I will try. I'm not sure if the hair is fuller now; it might have only been the weather.
Thanks Walter, and looking forward to your update too.
Matt B.
"...You know that is strange how names come to be. A "Carter" made carts; a "Collier" dealt in coal; a "Smith" etc. Strange..."
SLACK: sagged, drooped in the middle, uneducated, calm between tides, etc.,etc.....I try not to live up to me name ! HA!
WALTER: "brave warrior"....I lean on that a lot !!
Actually, my surname likely comes from Middle English slak, from Old Norse slakki meaning a small stream or pass between hills.
When I buy my retirement sailboat, it will be named "THE SLACKTIME"
Great update Matt, you have outstanding curly hair! Keep it growin' and flowin'
Bruce
Thanks Bruce!
Hi Matthew
You hair looks fine. It is a little curly though. But at least it grows down. My hair happens to be somewhat wavy. My hair is growing down, but my dad said that my hair, because it is wavy, will grow outward instead (I pointed one of the two long-haired men, who came to my cousin's wedding, who had straight hair, to my dad, and told him I want my hair that way).
Even with the curls, it still look good, and it is going down.
Regardless
My MySpace
Hi, my hair is growing down when the humidity is low. Thanks for the compliments.
MB
Wow, Matt, your hair has really grown a LOT since your last update. It looks fantastic too (love the curls and shine). You really shouldn't make us wait so long for the next set of pictures. :-P
Mouse
Thanks Mouse, it does seem like it all just got longer at once. I really wasn't paying attention I guess being concerned with other things. I'll try to be less delinquent with the next post.
