OK, I'm not out of the awkward stage yet, but when I do, I want to be prepared. When my already-straight hair gets to my shoulders, I want it to be shiny. You know what the hair looks like when you step out of the shower? Well I want it to look like that. I am aware that gel does achieve this effect, but I have noticed that with gel, the hair doesnt move at all. Is their a product that will give me that wet/shiny look while still alllowing me to put my hands through my hair and not get it all sticky, and also be able to move around if I were to, say, headbang. Thanks.
use baby oil
Thats what I do on days that I want my hair to be str+aight. It works most of the times. I've been told that it damages it but I haven't noticed any. good luck!

Best product for what you want is a "shine" sort of product. Usually comes in a clear liquid . . . sometimes it's in a thick oil about the consistancy of motor oil, other times as a clear fluid about like water, and is applied with a spray pump.
This stuff is a blend of silicone oils, dimethicone, cyclomethicone, and phenyl trimethicone. Dimethicone is often used in shampoo/conditioner combination products, as it sticks better to hair and is more difficult to rinse out. All of 'em spread themselves much more evenly through the hair than vegetable or mineral oils, and will be your best bet at getting light to reflect off your hair shaft.
One word about this stuff -- easy does it. Too much of it will weight your hair down, and it'll look greasy. Start with a drop or two of the thick stuff rubbed on your palms and then onto your hair (wet or dry) and go from there, or a couple pumps of the spray-on stuff.
Um, this stuff varies in price quite a bit from various companies, but it's all the same goo. Same grade, too. Citrishine is one brand, but I found some bargain priced stuff at the Dollar store (six ounce bottles for $3) and stocked up while the stocking up was good.
Hope this helps,
