Found out when talking to a girl that goes to the school ...
that there ARE hair regulations at the high school I'm going to! :O *gasps*
*raises finger and turns head dramatically* (cue deep drum sound)
but I have a plan!
...
But I need you guys (and girls) advice on this:
1. How can you restrain your mane as to make it appear that you have shorter hair?
I was thinking of somehow tucking it underneath itself with bobby pins ... but that comes to my second question.
2. How can you buy bobby pins/hairties w/o looking like a total idiot?
Do you go to a public or private school? I can't imagine a public school having regs on long hair, that would be downright discrimination. I could understand mohawks, pink, blue, red hair etc... but long hair? And yours dosen't even look that long.
private Catholic school. And anyways, I plan to grow it all four years of high school. :P
I went to private Catholic school too. They got a real thing against anything that may seem "abnormal" AKA: sinful.....
Your hair isn't too long right now, you can just slick it back and it will look short.
Well, you could always go for the greaser look and slick your hair back with some thick wax. Invest in some white shirts and tight jeans to complete the rockabilly image.
Other than that, it is difficult to steer clear of school regulations on appearance. In my high school, there were maybe a handful of guys who got away with having long hair, as it was not allowed to grow past your collar. Hopefully you'll figure something out.
As for question 1, my answer is that it really is not possible. People who are looking for it will know and if you keep trying to "deceive" they may be less friendly. I'd recommend growing until it gets long enough to make a ponytail. Once that happens, wear the ponytail (and a neat one too...ask people to help you at first if you need) and always wear the ponytail at school. If it looks neat and respectful, that is your best chance...they may even let it slide. The other option is a "bee-butt bun". Search the archives...someone posted a really good tutorial months ago.
As for question 2, the best way to do this is to just do it. No one has ever questioned me when purchasing such things. If they ask or you feel you need to talk, just tell the truth and have no shame. You may feel awkward going to a hair accessory "girl" store but the aisle in a grocery store or a "big-box" store (Walmart, Target, Kmart, etc) has what you need. Some of them even have self-checkouts and so you can scan your item and pay without involving another person.
Good luck and good locks...
I buy hair ties often, the person at the register could care
less. As long as your money is green......
Go to any "drugstore" and select what you want, take it to the check out counter, produce money or a credit card. Do not make faces. Bobby pins have no gender. Anyone can buy them. The clerks could not care less.

During my aukward phase, I wore bobby pins in the front of my head, to restrain my hair from getting in my eyes. My dad, later on, told me to take out the pins, since he thinks that bobbypins is only for women.
