Anyone else here like to build plastic models? I like the 1/24 scale cars, mostly Corvettes and Ferraris, but I have been throwing a few MoPar muscle cars in there lately.
Nice work man, you build and photograph those yourself?? If so what camera/lens setup do you use? Looks super nice! I've built quite a few over the years.. Will post some pics for ya' soon. ;-))
Tom
I build them and take the pictures.I use a light blue posterboard for the background. The camera is a Kodak EasyShare C643 6 megapixel set to macro at F/3.8 0.217SEC 1/45 exposure, -0.5 compensation and 160 ISO on a tripod with two filtered floodlights, one left and one right with 100 watt bulbs. Both builds are multiple first place stock automotive winners at the VIP acossiation Cactus Classic contest.
Awesome job dude, looks super nice! I like kit bashing if you know what that is. Light box coming so I can get some good pics, I've got a Nikon D70s and a decent selection of lenses, so I'll give you a buzz soon and share some with ya'! ;-))

I love to build models, and used to build bunches when I was in grade school and high school. Somehow never found the time after I joined the Navy, got married and had kids. Used to build cars as well as military aircraft and vehicles. I've still got several kits waiting to be built that I've been packing around the country with me for 20+ years, LOL.

I have noticed some models in the background of your update photos....I'm really glad you have shared some closeups. Very nice work !
I recently retired and am getting back to N-gauge model railroading. I really enjoy doing realistic scenery and hope to do some macro-photography.
When I was studying Architecture in the '50's &'60's (gasp !), I had a part time "job" working with an architectural model maker ! Too much fun !!
Thanks for Sharing your hobby with us !
Walter
I'm getting into N gauge too.
I haven't been working on a layout because my apt. is too small, but I have plans to model the Union Pacific's Mojave subdivision going from downtown L.A. to Tehachapi, CA. All I can do right now is collect locomotives and rolling stock. :{

I've done some HO scale layouts in the past with my grandfather and started to do one a couple years ago until I needed the room for other things.. N scale will be my next interest! ;-))

Last year ago I bought a 40x25 ft basement with a home on top of it :-), which is going to be turned into my N-scale railroad empire. It will feature a freelance short line named Delaware & Raritan Railroad and the Norfolk & Southern main line that goes through the Manville, NJ, yard, a few miles from my home. I am busy converting my N-scale cars and engines to Microtrains couplers...
Right now the basement hosts five servers - four x86 Debian GNU/Linux and a Sun Ultra-60 Solaris 10 system - and a gazillion crickets during the summer... For the crickets problem I brought in last year several hundred praying mantiss eggs and these critters have put quite a good dent into the other bugs populations, including crickets...

Exceptional work, Mike! Congrats on your multiple awards.
I built many models when I was a young teen, but due to college and life in general I slowly tapered off. I've been looking to get back into it since I graduated last year. I too enjoy 1/24, but I love 1/12 and 1/8 scale also. The problem is where to display them once they're built!
Nice photography, by the way. I'm a film photographer myself. I find the characteristic mechanical "click" irresistible.
Nice work. Take care,
Joshua
Nice models you've made there, I don't think I have the patience to make small things like that.
Oh yeah, heres a link to my site if you want to see more.
Maybe now....
