For anyone who didn't know I was involved in a near fatal motorcycle wreck 7 years ago.. TLC just happened to be filming at the Savannah Georgia Memorial Medial Center where I was flown to, and that episode is airing again this evening on Discovery Health channel for those interested in watching. You'll also get to see my first two and a half years of hair growth at that point.. hehe

I'd always wanted my 15 minutes of fame... lol I am more careful for what I wish for these days!!
Tom
Anywhere to download the episode online? I cut my cable so I don't have discovery health anymore. Good to see your doing O.K. now. :}
Same for me, I live in the Netherlands so I can't watch it either.
Glad you survived and recovered from the accident, motorcycles can be dangerous.
I'll be watching. I'm glad you survived that awful experience. Makes you think how precious and fragile life is.
Take care,
Bruce
Very true, no much is taken for granted these days! I'm just glad I lived to talk about it, it could have ended much worse than it did!
;-))
Tom
I'm heading out to go to work in just a few minutes, so will not be able to see it tonight; but, that's quite a story there, --- and so glad you survived, and eventually bounced back with such flying colors!!
As Scooper said, it makes you realize how precious life is... My best to you!!

Well maybe you can catch it again at 3am EST as it airs again? Hopefully none here have to experience anything like this but I can honestly say that I wouldn't go back and change it if I could.. Life is surely appreciated much more when it was almost lost! I just wish I didn't feel as old as I do these days as a result.. lol I'm 33 going on 53 some days! HAHA
Take care,
Tom
Don't believe there is anywhere to dowload the show but I've made a music video from clips of the show which is on my website. It's not as good as watching the actual show but you'll still see the bulk of my part in it. Comments welcome, Enjoy. ;-))
Tom
Forgot the link.. Blonde moment.. lol
Crash Video Link
Ouch, that looks really painfull.
Out of interest, how much protection were you wearing?
It was... Something you don't forget either..hehe I was wearing a helmet but the accident wasn't one of those deals where you just fall on the ground.. Truck pulls in front of me and I T-boned it.. Wouldn't matter if I would have had full body armor at that point..
Ok, maybe I've been playing medieval games too long, but just got a sudden mental image of a guy in full Maximillian plate armor on a crotch rocket face planting into a tractor-trailer...
There's something you don't see every day
Truck jousting, anyone??
Wow, that's really neat that you get video of your surgery. I've only had my appendix removed, but would love to see a video of my surgery. I bet you got an awesome scar from that too.
Thanks Garth, I'm very grateful they were filming and I got to see that too.. I don't remember ANYTHING leading up to the accident or after until I woke up 5 days later wondering what the hell happened.. And yes, I have a few awesome scars from that!! ;-))
Tom
Wow Tom that was an intense video! Thank God they were able to fix you up (and at least you had a cute doctor). I don't have the Disc Health channel so I won't be able to watch it but I'm glad youy posted that link. Man, I can't imagine how painfull that must have been. God bless.
-Phil
Yes, intense pretty well describes that! I've always wanted to go back and thank that doctor again, she was pretty cute huh? lol And I hope you never are able to imagine how painful it was, painful would be somewhat of an understatement... BUT, I'm alive and kickin' so God has certainly blessed! Take care ;-))
Tom
Won't be able to watch, as my fight practice is tonight (and I have all the loaner armor and weapons). Glad to hear you're ok after something like that, and yeah, be MUCH more careful what you wish for :::grin:::
Jim
By the way, I also had a friend from college involved in a motorcycle accident last summer. Luckly, she made a full recovery.
Regardless

I don't think I can catch it here in the UK, but glad to hear that you made it through ok. Sometimes it takes something bad to enjoy life and appreciate it more.
Cheers, Dave
I caught the show a few hours ago. That was brutal. I'm sorry you had to go through all that. I'm just glad you made it through it all. Some of the other guys on the show didn't fare nearly as well.
I didn't realize you were from Georgia, me too. We talk alike ;-) Cool tattoos too.
MB
Glad you got to see it Matt! It wasn't fun at all but I am the better for having been there and done that.. I wouldn't go back and change it. I guess I am from Georgia now, been here for 15 years now! I'm originally from Balt. MD / York PA.. The Army landed me in GA and I stuck around..hehe ;-))
Tom
Wow, that is a rad video. I hit the back button at the point where they made the incision in your abdomen to remove your spleen. Seeing stuff like this can trigger panic attacks in me sometimes.
It is good you are alive and alright. Motorcycles are a lot of fun but can be dangerous. In the early 90s I had an 883 Sportster. I have gotten soft over the years and prefer the comfort of a car now.
Scott
LOL.. I hear ya' man! I know it took me a few years to get over seeing that knowing that is was me, and it still hits a nerve or two occasionally! I'm in between bikes at the moment but have had many Sportsters over the years and the one from the accident was a 93' XL1200 that I had completely customized and rebuilt. I made the last payment on it two weeks after I got out of the hospital, go figure! I too prefer a car nowadays, as aches and pains tend to take the fun out of riding too far... Take care and thanks for trying to watch! ;-))
Tom
Hi Tom,
I'm sure that was a horrible ordeal and good that you came through it. We did get the televisual feast this side of the pond.
I sold my bike 4 years ago and I didn't ride it anymore as alot of my friends that were in the biker gang, have moved on with families etc and I prefer to drive these days.
Cheers,
John.B
I saw the show. You were lucky, dude. I had to look away as they were sewing you up.
Who was the guy with the dark hair who was with you in the hospital room?
Very Lucky for sure! 48 staples down the stomach wasn't fun but it sure looked cool as hell! Sounds like you were describing Drew, my partner, with the beard? He's the owner of Tattoos by Drew where I run my business Painless Enterprises from.. He's the Tattoo Artist and I'm the Body Piercer.. ;-))
Thanks for watching!
Tom
