I was just wondering what movies would show interesting longhairs...
Some that would come into my mind are:
- Mad Max, Beyond the Thunderdome
- Edward Scissorhands
- Renegade
- Mall Rats
- Hair
I know there are thousands more... Any ideas?
Thanks...

I know a few movies with long haired men and here is some of them.
- Mission Impossible II, with Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise) having shoulder-length hair
- Shanghai Noon, with Jackie Chan with aformentioned length of hair.
- Lethal Weapon II, with a long haired man driving a truck during a road rage
- Disney Tarzan, yes he's long haired, but it is a cartoon
- Disney Jungle Book, with Mowgli being long haired
- Crouching Tiger, with Lo (Chang Chen) having hair shorly past his shoulders
- You know who Johnny Dept is and you know what movies he is in :)
Oh yeah. I saw Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian today, and Prince Caspian has long, slighly wavy black year, similar length to my hair.
Regardless

Hello fellow longhairs
Here are a few suggestions for moppographic movies:
Period films
The Man in the Iron Mask 1998
The King Dances (2000)
The Musketeer
Dances with Wolves (1989)
Cromwell (1970)
Molière (French only, both 1978 version and 2007 version)
Set in Modern times
Private Parts (Howard Stern)
The Fisher King
The Song Remains the Same (Led Zeppelin)
Woodstock
The Holy Mountain by Jodorowsky
UHF
Highlander
It seems, that today, the choice of movies with long-haired characters is somewhat narrow, however, the new Narnia movie looks promising, and there is talk of a new Lord of the Rings hobbit themed movie in the works.
The nineties and early 2000's were a good time for "mop movies", as goodies like Tarzan, Highlander, The Man in the Iron Mask, and other goodies like Lord of the Rings came out.
It seems that in the past two years, the well of inspiration for long hair in movies have dried. There is hope for those hoping for new long-haired movies, like an addition to the LOTR series in the works. The new Narnia has some long hair in it too.
Have a good weekend,

I find it funny how alot of people like to use the Bible as an excuse to get us to cut our hair but two films that come to my mind...
THE JESUS FILM
PASSION OF THE CHRIST
Both of which JESUS is portryaed with long hair and a beard.
Was that strange one with Mel Gibson in a funny language!
Yup that's the one, where you can't read fast enough and your so
busy reading you don't have much time for the scenes.
I believe it was Aramethaic, if I spoelled it right.
Does anybody study that as a second language anymore. lol
Kevin
I wonder if the best ever selling "work of fiction" has it in that language!
Actually, some language of the movie Passion of Christ was in Aramaic, and some scenes were in Classical Latin although they screwed up a few times with soft "g" and such which is a no-no. Aramaic is in the Semetic language group with Hebrew, Arabic and others. It is still spoken in a modern form in some parts of the Middle East. I can see exactly how you came up with Aramethaic though: as in St. Joseph of Arimathea, the guy who gave his tomb for Jesus.

Wow I consider myself enlightened!
Hi Kevin and John,
I hope I didn't sound pretentious, but I never get to apply all the crap I've learned in the real world, and I took the opportunity and ran with it ;-) I'm quite sure either of you could enlighten me on lots of topics as my knowledge range is quite narrow. Though this is a hair board, it's fun sometimes to talk about other topics a little.
MB
Why not at all, I know a few things in the history department and can sometimes over do it without realizing it. It's rare I get to expand on that subject without putting people to sleep.
Any and all knowledge is a good thing and one can never get enough.
Kevin
Yes that is very true Kevin and you can never have enough knowledge and I'd hate it to be too narrow from the south!
Cheers,
John.B
That is the language that Jesus spoke. That is why you should pray to God instead of to Jesus. Jesus never learned English.
Bill
That's a very good point Bill. I've always wondered why people don't have to read subtitles on a Sunday morning!
Cheers,
John.B
There's a guy in "Children of Men" with some nice dreadlocks.
There was longhair in the recent film Beowulf although a less than great film mostly computer generated with a few real people mixed in.
But he did have longhair or maybe extentions, or perhaps that was computer generated as well I'm not sure. (grin)
My suggested viewing would be Lord of the rings, and Troy.
Kevin
I've never seen Ray Winstone with longhair, oh woops it was just a dream as it was animated!
About the only thing uniting Ray Winstone and Beowulf was the voice-over for the animated Beowulf and maybe a few facial features. Winstone plays in the new Indiana Jones movie as Indy's friend/enemy; as you will see he looks nothing like Beowulf. Beowulf was this muscly blond-haired Geat.
Soon they won't need actors at all just people who can do voice overs, and eventually they'll master that digitally.
Kevin
Here's a couple -
The Lords of Dogtown
Casino Royale (Daniel Craig as Bond) - one of the card players is an asian man with a waistlength gray ponytail.
Jim
My favourite examples are:
- Braveheart (FREEEDOOM!)
- The Scorpion King
- The Mask of Zorro (Both Zorro's!)
- Lord of the Rings & MI2 (I know, already been stated)
These also work amazingly when countering someone who says that long hair is femminine or immature or unkept (Well, more of just Zorro and MI2 here)!
Lover of all movies,
-Christian Epp
The two films that first come to mind are "First Blood" and "Easy Rider"
In "First Blood", Rambo's hair might've not been very long but it it is very relevant in the movie. If I recall correctly, the main reason for the altercation with the sheriff was because of his shaggy, outcast, vietnam vet look. The sheriff and the local boys in pickup trucks shout slurs at him and tell him to get a haircut. They even incarcerate him.
And "Easy Rider", I'm sure you're all familiar with that movie. Heck, I wasn't even a sperm cell when that one came out and I know about it! According to Jack Nicholson's character within the film itself, he claims that the long-haired "Yankee queers" are being forced to get haircuts with rusty scissors up in Texas. Any "natural born" long hair should watch this film, if you haven't seen it already that is. These two long-haired, free-spirited "freaks" changed cinema forever.
Oh and about Ray Winstone, funny he should be mentioned. i just finished watching one of his first films ever. "Scum"
great movie but really hard to stomach.
In The Name Of The Father
The Last Of The Mohicans
Both are Daniel Day-Lewis movies too, haha!
Hey swiss longhair, How about. Tom Cruise, Brad Pitt and especially Antonio Banderas in "Interview With The Vampire".
Oh Yeah, let's not forget Jason Lee and others in
"Almost Famous".
peace, jonalbear
I Don't think anyone has mentioned the following:
Pirates of the Caribbean
Pride and Prejudice
The Village
The Patriot (Mel Gibson, NOT Segal)
While I can't think of others right now, a lot of the movies set in the colonial and early American period have guys with long hair, as it was common then.
Joshua
Did the guy in the rabbit suit in Donnie Darko have long hair? It's been a good few years since I saw it but I have my suspicions that he did..
