I used to have pretty long hair. Long enough for the back to go past my shoulder blades while the front came past my chin. Everyone told me I looked like a girl. I had guys stare at me because they thought I was some "hot chick." For example, I was at a bus station once, eating some food. I looked to my left, and there was this guy with his head lowered, peering at me with a goofy smile and this "James Bond look." I've also had married men with their wives stare at me as I was walking by. And I'm only a senior in high school! Well, I wanted to look more boyish and attract girls so I cut my hair. Of course, all the older people I know tell me how devilishly handsome I am now, and I got comments from girls that I was "so hot." BUT I STILL WANT LONG HAIR! The annoying thing is, I've been told by a couple of friends and a teacher that I still look like a girl, just with short hair. But it seems like I had an overall good response with my cut.
Now, what should I do? (Also, does hair in the back grow the same as hair in the front? Before I cut it, the back was past my shoulders while the front was maybe 2 inches below my chin. Is that normal?)
Thanks!
facial hair maybe? or try bulking up
Well, I can't really grow facial hair. I'm half-Chinese, and the Chinese part usually equates to no beard or mustache, not that I'd want one anyway. I have been working out for about 1 year now. I have a light build, but I have muscle definition, but it wouldn't really show unless I wore a wifebeater all the time. But thanks for the suggestions!
My mom is completely afraid of me going to college because she's scared to death some evil gay rapist is going to kidnap me. Yes, she actually told me to watch out for gay people who will kidnap me. I told her not all gays are rapists, and most of them prefer short-haired men, but that didn't work.
be far more concerned about gay bashers who may want to beat you to death (or near death) because you *may* appear gay to them. Odds are they won't even take the time to find out; the appearance of gayness is enough for many gay bashers. What a sad world we live in! Not that it even matters whether you actually are gay or not, obviously nobody has the right to kill (or even physically attack) another for any reason but self defense. I wouldn't worry too much about the "gay rapist" idea, that is quite far fetched.
thats besides the point, most gays are shorthaired...long hair is masculine, specially with facial hair...anyone seen Lord of the RIngs?
may indeed look masculine, despite their long hair, I am assuming this young man doesn't look masculine in the "true" sense of the word, otherwise he wouldn't have this problem.
Don't shave for a while so u have a lotta facial hair. Vic's got a beard board:
Some men are just slender. It doesn't mean you are feminine.
Why does looking "feminine" (which is a VERY relative term when we are talking about hair) bother you anyway? Are you afraid of something? Other people? Yourself? Ask yourself why it really, really bothers you. Then decide if the bad truly does outweigh the good.
By the way, if men perceived you to be a woman, you could of had a lot of fun with it...I mean, just think about it, dude. You could REALLY embarrass those good for nothing married men with their wives who are eyeing you. You could flirt back as a joke, you could do the "suck it" motion (which would be hilarious in that circumstance)...lots of fun.
Actually, I had a pig-tail when I was 4 years old, and all the "big kids" (second-graders) called me a girl constantly. I don't know if this means anything, but I guess it might've had some subconscious affect on me. But also, a lot of people in my school think I'm gay because I think they actually believe I try to make myself look girly - or at least they did when I had long hair. The gay comments lessened when I cut my hair short, but I'm still growing it out anyway. It's been about 2 months, 3 weeks.
There are days I wish I was Mr. T and really knocked those suckaz out.
Whoa, so I'm not the only one. I've been mistaken for a chick a few times. But the worst of it is at work. I got nicknames like 'pretty boy', 'princess' etc. It does piss me off a little, but the funny thing is. At the Staff christmas party, I was talking to this guy and his wife, and he said, "Man, this guy should get a hair cut", and straight away, his wife (Who is quite attractive btw), pipes up and says, "No, don't you dare cut it! He's just jealous."
We can't help the way we look, but we can accentuate
the positive and diminish the negative as we see it.
If you want long hair, grow it back. You may wish
to consider a partial beard to add a more
masculine apppearance until you get a few scars!
If you are a young male as opposed to someone
30 or 40 years old, you are not going to have
the hard features because you haven't been kicked
around or spent 10 or 20 years soaking up the
bad sunshine. Give it time!
I'd feel sorry for the chicks who look like guys . . .
Actually, I wouldn't worry about it. You look like you, and if that ain't good enough for some people, then too bad for them. Not much point in changing your appearance to make other picky people happy, 'cause they'll just find something else to gripe about. So.
Yep, it's normal. I cut hair of lots of guys (and older women) with thicker hair in the lower back . . . seems to grow faster there, too. It'll probably happen to the rest of us later in life, too . . .

I am very skinny and i have hair little longer than my waist. people some times say excuse me madam. then i have to tell them that i am a guy. its sometimes irritating. i think i have to gain some weight.
Dear SGF,
My Grandma for 20 years would always threaten
to get out the scissors when I saw her. The
Mother for 25 years always gets around to
the "cut your hair freak." You really should
consider the security of where you are to
attend college. You are at a higher risk
because you dont look like all the other
guys. Some places in the USA you can get
an ass-kicking for having long hair as well!
I refuse to submit to a haircut ;)
You will have more males than normal either
looking at you or asking you if youre interested
in sex and will learn to deal with it in
your own way. Its quite simple that most
people with long hair are female. They may
be staring at your but,,, most likely they
are the ones who will be embarassed when you
turn around ... not you.

Hay.. I look like a girl I will not cut my hair no matter what people say and yes I can be wearing my civil war uniform and get that look from other men. I look back at them and say with my deep voice wich does not sound like a womans voice. "what?" they usualy look away very quickly. Sometimes you have to cop an attitude wrather you wan to or not. Dont butcher your hair 4 out of 5 women prefer men with long hair. And I tell you I dont mind when a woman runs her hands though my hair.
Andrew
I have never been lucky enough to have a girl run her fingers thruogh my long hair. I wish one would.
Dont grow face hair. eck no one wants to kiss a man with 3 days worth of stubble. Would you...
IT is ok for people to do that. Many times you will find that it is that they are looking at a thing of beauty. Hair is beautiful, and if they want to look a something beautiful pay them no mind.
There are many girls that will find you just as handsome with long hair as short. And if people are not liking you for you, then you do not need them.
My friends grandmother use to threaten to cut my hair. She stoped when I threatend to buy her a Coffin.
