Hello,
My name is Joe and this is my second post. I am 57 years old and been growing my hair about a year. My first post was a reply to someone who was wondering about hair bands.
Well I tried hair bands, and my hair is not long enough to use one. However, I could use one as a bandana.
And I did try the bandana route, but don't care for them either.
Finally, I bought some barrettes at Wal Mart and I love them. Even if I continue to grow my hair and get long enough for a pony-tail, I see me continuing to use the barrettes as a preferred method.
Wearing these has been invigorating and exciting. I like the androgenous aspect.
I shake very easily, so the excitment of this has wrecked my check writing ability. But I seem to be calming down where I was once more nervous.
I am happy to read post questioning why males can't use the same methods women do.
I'm glad the barrettes work well for you Joe. When I was at your stage, I just let my hair be free and that was good enough most of the time, but there were occasions that I needed to restrain my hair so I just put a cap on. I supposs barrettes would have been a good idea.
Congratulations, btw for acheiving one year growing at 57. I'm 53 and I got the "guys your age shouldn't be trying to look like a teenager again" crap when I first started to grow long hair. The heck with them!! Keep on growin' for sure!

See, there's the problem with their point of view. Who said we elder statesmen of the longhair community are trying to look like teenagers?? Do I want to deal with acne again?? Not bloody likely!!!
