Hi there
I love this message board :)
I am curious if there is a genetic difference between the way hair does between males and females? I mean, I see females with perfectly straight hair, and it looks fine, and nice.
Can males have this type of hair? Right now I am in the DREADFUL awkward stage, so I am not sure how my hair will turn out when its look.
Anyways, THANKS!
If I remember correctly, there was a discussion about this three or four months ago, and the answer was Hair = Hair. Doesn't matter what gender the person is. It's all genetics. So, yes, a guy can have perfectly straight hair. Before my hair started getting long enough to actually have a tail, I wanted perfectly straight hair, but now that I've got a reasonable length ponytail, I have discovered that I kinda prefer the slightly wavy hair I have.

I have short hair, how can I know whether my hair is straight, curly or wavy ?
There's only two ways to find out. If you are not a scientist, I suggest you let it grow and discover for yourself.
There is no difference between sex and hair, except that men obviously tend to lose a lot more of it than women, as they age. The hair structure is identical to that of a woman, but the abundance of testosterone in a man makes it fall out, and not regenerate if one is pre-disposed to male pattern baldness.
Regarding the straight hair question, think of Native American and Asian men with long hair. Have you ever seen one with *naturally* curly hair? Certainly they can have their hair permanently waved, but I have never seen a natural curly head of hair in either of these races. Their race obviously has a unique tendency for straight hair. Now think of Italian men with long hair. Most of them have at least a wave, if not full curls. The Italians (and certain other cultures) have a tendency for wavy/curly hair. People of mixed races can have any type of hair, depending on their genetics. This is a pretty simplistic way of putting it, but you get the general idea, I assume.
