Hello !
Eh, I always wondered dose hot water increase shedding rate?
If so, then why ?
Cause heat causes burnings.
That's why. :)
To my knowledge, it doesn't cause excess shedding but HOT water is damaging to the scalp as well as your skin and hair in general. it will dry out your scalp most likeley. Try using warm water for shampoo and cooler water to rinse out your conditioner.
While this is more advice than a solid answer to your question, I hope it helped and I'm sure someone on this forum will be able to completely answer your question. Take care Argale.

Hair is weakest when it's wet thus if your not careful when you wash it you'll shed more. I use warm water when I wash my hair and turn it down a bit when I rinse it. I'm not one for ice cold showers so I don't rinse with ice cold water.
Hot water won't burn your hair, if it were that hot it would burn or scald the rest of you and you would instinctively jump out of the shower. I would assume anyway.

I certainly don't wash my hair in very hot water as not to scalp and I'm sure it does not do the hair alot of good. I'm no expect about the "right" temperature for washing hair but just be careful.
