Hi there,
I have a few questions, hopefully you'll be able to help me out.
I've been growin my hair for like 7 or 8 months now. And my left side at the back seems to be shorter then the right, is this unusual?
Also is it recommended to part my hair? Problem is I don't really look good when I part my hair, so now I just comb my hair backwards, is that OK?
Thanks for answering.
Welcome to the board, you've come to the right place for advise about hair growing.
When you grow your hair out it always is a little bit uneven, just let it grow and this will be less noticeble when longer.
About how to wear your hair, this is just a personal preference.
Whatever get's you through the akward stage will do.
I chose for a part, this will look better when my hair is longer I don't care how I look right now.
I comb my hair backwards, too, --- sometimes reulting in a casual sort of part; at other times resulting in it staying back (especially when I securely tie it back)... That's one of the joys of long hair, in fact, is to be uniquely individual with things like that!
As far as one side of your hair being slightly longer than the other, this is not all that uncommon (especially if your hair is wavey, it will certainly APPEAR that way). Only if your hair is extremely uneven would I go to a professional salon to have a light trim to even it up. If you decide to do that, though, make sure you go to a very reputable hair stylist, preferably one with a longhair following. These salons cost more; but, are WELL worth it, --- and definitely avoid the chain-store type haircutting places... DISASTERS come from there!!
In any case, WELCOME, Mustafa!

Thanks for the replies Urban Cowboy and Vincent...
you're right Urban Cowboy my hair is wavy, I guess thats why it appears to be shorter.
Again thanks a lot
Oh and one more question...is there away to reduce waves by any chance?
Just keep it growing and let the gravity do it's work.
Welcome to the board.
Oh I see your reaching the awkward stage and it's different for everyone. My hair looked uneven and a different length each side but if you persist it does even itself out. You could try and hair products to keep it under control or a hat. I'm sure you willl get different advice but the important one is KEEP it growing.
Cheers,

Hello there and welcome! Great to have you here.
Will sure give it a try.
Not at all, and this being the 1st time you have ever grown your hair this long you don't know what to expect. What to expect for a long time is the unexpected! LOL This is all part of going through what is called the "Awkward Stage." (Too bad it has been named such as for some guys this period is actually a fun period to "grow-through.") All kinds of wild looking things that sometimes are really quite unique and so neat!
I have never known of a recommend when it comes to parting ones hair. Some just let nature do it automatically and when the hair is long enough it begins to part itself in the middle. Others prefer to make a part where they would like one.........and still others in the growing-out process just let their hair do whatever it wants. Combing hair back such as you are doing now is still another way of dealing with the hair as it continues to grow and is safe. In short, all is fine and anything goes but be careful right now about falling into the "Trimming Trap" as that can set you back by many months and making the transition to being a longhair a very long road.
Best of all wishes to you and just keep it growin!
A pleasure. :-)
I've found lately that I can keep my mane under control and see my customers with a good firm hold hairspray. Only rarely have I had a "bad hair day" and had to resort to tying back...!!!
