Anyone like the band?
I went to see them on May 30th, with their Progressive Nation tour (2 of my fav bands together, DT and Opeth) and I must say it was the best show I've been to.
I also got to meet the band! :D - I had a VIP ticket and backstage access.
heres a pic...
Luckily my hair is long enough to headbang so you can imagine how much fun I had with that hehe... - Can't wait 'till I can tie it all back!

Best night ever!
Hi Alan,
Great that you got to see and meet two great bands and on one night as well. Now we all know VIP passes are like gold dust, so how did you wangle that?
I'm lookin forward to seeing and meeting Opeth at Wacken in a few weeks time.
Cheers,
John.
Have you heard 'Watershed' yet John?
Hi Dave,
Yes I've got it and on the first couple of listens I like what I hear but I need to few more that's for sure.
Cheers,
John.B
Thanks, I will get it. I am seeing Opeth on their UK tour in November, at Bristol, will you be seeing them anywhere on their travels?
Cheers Dave
Never heard of them. But I'm kinda sequestered. Glad you got to see them backstage. That's always great times.
Fantastic music! Lucky you! I've heard them on the college station that I listen to and I have to play it back over and over. Also, I the same vein, Symphony X, another progressive metal band. Superb music!
Bruce
(nice progress, hairwise, btw)
There my favorite band, Ive seem them for once in the octvarium tour and another time in 2007 for The SC tour. Sadly PN08 dint make it down here in montreal.
I would have to love to see 3 of my favorite abnd (opeth ,dt, btbam). But hey! glad to know there is Dt fan around here to :P
I went to the May 28th show in Atlanta. It's was a fantastic show. 3 was absolutely phenomenal. Between the Buried & Me was a bit muddied at times, but their performance overall was fantastic. Opeth was fantastic, and I was so happy when they played Demon of the Fall instead of Masters Apprentices. And Dream Theater, while my least favorite of the 4, put on one of the best live shows I've ever seen. I took a lot of pictures, mainly of Opeth. However, most of them turned out crappy. But here are a pic of both Opeth and Dream Theater:
And Watershed is absolutely phenomenal. It's more progressive than anything Opeth's ever put out, more coherent, and simply the best album they have ever released. I absolutely love the new direction the band has gone in. Burden & Hessian Peel = <3
Really? i haven't got a chance to purchase Watershed yet. I keep forgetting to go buy it. Opeth is my favorite. Can't wait ill probably definitely get it tomorrow. Anxious to hear with axenrot and akesson in the lineup and also sad to hear that martin mendez cut his locks off. but whatever as long as he's still a greaet bass player thats all that matters.

At first, I really didn't like it. I found the new direction almost disturbing at times. Since Opeth has basically stuck to the same style since Still Life, it was a bit weird to hear something totally new. However, after three or so spins, I was a believer. The only weak track is Porcelain Heart. It uses the main melody from The Grand Conjuration as one of its main melodies (except in a different key), and I didn't like it at all. Besides Orchid (which is definately the most atmospheric album Opeth's ever put out), Watershed is the best Opeth album I've heard.
Listen to them once every while, not a very big fan.
I like opeth more and really enjoy there new album.
You're one lucky guy with the backstage pass :)
That sounds like fun to you, but heavy metal music is not my favorite kind of music, and I sometimes get a headache listening to metal.
Regardless
My MySpace - feel free to add me as a friend
That's awesome that you go to meet Dream Theater. I'm envious.
Very cool Alan,
That's awesome that you got to backstage, I remember I went to a Folk/Black metal show in NYC the same night that DT was playing at a diff venue close by so there were MANY longhaired metalheads around. As for Dream Theater, I honestly really don't like them; very talented band but I'm not really into prog. The thing with them is when I first heard them, it was the song Lie which I thought was awesome. So I bought the cd and hated the rest of it, it was very inconsistant; there's definalty a load of talent (Petrucci IS a great guitarist) and credit due, but they're not for me. I am into Opeth though, didn't pick up the new album yet. Anyway, cool pics, thanks for sharing!

When they first came out I tried getting into them but couldn't. They're all excellent musicians and I respect their abilities. To me they're just wanking around trying to be RUSH. The singer's voice just goes right thru me, too.
