Guys,
I am still around, but I am sure some have noted an absents on my part. About two months ago, I Googled my Internet name, "ESDI-80" and saw that I took up almost an entire page! This caused me to really flip out and not post to boards barely at all. This was right at the time of ATP's post about being denied a job because someone Googled him. Having studied Internet security, this caused for a double freak out! End result, I held back on posting, and I closed out my Myspace page! I had mixed feelings about Myspace anyway as it tends to give out a lot of info.
I probably shouldn't worry as I don't post with my full name, and I don't put up any personal info.
Anyway, I am still here, nerdy as heck, and hair that is growing longer everyday. :-)
Yeah, I had something happen that's in a similar vein: at school some bored guys were googling people and they google-imaged me, and lo-and-behold, my picture pops up as essentially number one, courtesy of MLHH! Granted, they didn't go further than to see the search results, but it was quite interesting to have first page results. Good thing I'm the type of guy who doesn't give a crap what people think and didn't mind them asking what MLHH is for.
Google says I'm a PhD,

At least, you are growing out your hair. I just started using MySpace, by the way.
Regardless
My MySpace - feel free to add me as a friend
Oh yeah, if I put my name in google, there are way too many people who share both my first and last name, so I believe there is only a dozen pages about me.
Regardless
My MySpace
I just put my name in quotes into Google and it said there were about 1530 web sites that mention my name. I have a few distant cousins who have the same name as me, but from the first few dozen of the links, it's clear most of them were about me. I wouldn't waste the time to even look at all 1530 of them, much less worry about what they all say. If there are any negative ones, they will be overshadowed by the positive ones to such a degree that the negative ones won't matter.
I see googling someone like visiting a restaurant review site - if most people say great things about a place, I'd dismiss the scant negative comments I might find. The biggest turnoff is to seek information and draw a blank; if others think so little of a place to never mention it, or if the place is trying to not be found out about, chances are greatest there is something very wrong.
Similarly, when it comes to people, if I put someone's name into Google and I don't find much, I find that to be on the creepy side. It's like, "Who IS this person, and when are they going to do something with their life?"
Nowadays, the place one lays down his reputation is on Google. If you've done great things with your life, your hope is that others will notice. A man's reputation is, after all, what other people say about him, and where you will find that today is on Google.

Hey Mike, How ya doing. Have googled my internet name with only references to a few reviews I have posted. No references to my real name except for relatives who are my namesake.
peace, jonalbear
I googled my name and came up with others with my name but not me.
I got to the 8th page and stopped.
As you use a screen name I don't think you have much to worry about although i understand where your coming from it can be disconcerting if you haven't really thought about it much.
Glad you came back
Kevin
Googled my name and suddenly something blew-up! LOL
You said that was when you Googled your screen name, what about your real name? If you Google my real name, the ONLY hits are submissions I've made to Top5.com's humor lists. Oh, and some chick's page that has references to two musicians, one with my first name and one with my last name.
Eek! I just Googled my usual screen name! Hmmm... Well, I do have strong opinions, but I don't think I've said anything that would be too questionable.
