Did a long haired tennis player called Bjorn Borg win the 1978 Paris Open?
If so then chalk another one up for long haired sporting heroes.
Not sure if he won that specific tournament, but he did win lots of tennis tournaments during the 70's like Wimbeldon et al. He did have rather long hair for a time back then. There are lots of pictures here and there you can find. I imagine the Wimbeldon organization has a page of previous champions of something like that.
Also, Rafael Nadal who was playing yesterday against Federer has some nice shoulder length hair too. Longer hair for guys is not uncommon in tennis.

In my country there are so many people with the last name "Borg".. and i haven't seen it present in other countries.. I was curious as to if this tennis player had Maltese roots? Haha.

I guess there might be a nordic and phoenician connection somewhere :-)
There were several long haired men tennis players over the years.
Maybe someone more into tennis than I can enlighten us.
He certainly won Wimbledon at least once, which is another leg of the Grand Slam, together with the Paris Open and one other (US Open, maybe? - I'm not a tennis buff). However, he shaved his head once he developped male pattern baldness, sad to say.
