I don't care how hot the weather is, i love my long hair! thats what i say all day to people who ask me.."don't you get so hot under all that hair?" or, "if you get a haircut it will feel much better". Has anyone ever said that to anybody? I'm sure you heard once in your life. I like to put it this way if you want to have long flowing locks of hair, you got to put up with it in the summer. So for all of those contemplating cutting there hair off for summer, just hang in there and it will be nice for the winter.
-never going to cut it, Jøe.
a picture of me outside with my long hair \m/ it was so dang hot out there..
Last year I shaved it because the 125 degree sun told me to....Not that I would do it again. I'm gonna "summer over" up north where it's not so bad.
It's just part of having long hair, when it gets to hot I put in a ponytail or at least anything that fits in right now.
The next summer I will have a full ponytail.
yeah just give it time thats all you got to worry about. Just let it go and watch it grow down your face, shoulders, etc. it will be there before you know it. yeah it usually takes about 2 years of growth to pull a clean ponytail. long hair is amazing to have.

My hair is nowhere the length of your (comes down to eye level). But for me, it's a big deal as it's the longest it has ever been. The humidity is really starting kick in, and it's getting pretty damn uncomfortable. I would definitely love to just go nuts with the clippers, but I'd be pretty disappointed in myself. Hopefully by this time next year, I'll be able to pony-tail that bad boy.
Once its long its nice to have especially the ponytail. But just to clarify it will take you around your two year mark of hairgrowth to reach a full, clean ponytail. just so you know how long it will be. Be wise and make sure you know what you want before any regrets. You can cut hair, but you can't uncut hair....

Amen, Joe! It's not like we go from short hair to long hair in a day so we get used to the added warmth from long hair. I've been pony-tailing(PT) mine lately or just wet the hair before going out in the sun. Keep it growing!

I have waist length hair and right now here it is 96 degrees with
a dew point of about 72. The hair really doesn't bother me in
the heat. It's uncomfortably warm whether you're hair is short
or long.
So if you cut your hair you'll have short hair and you'll still
be uncomfortably hot.
"if you get a haircut it will feel much better".
No actually you won't. It will still be unbearably hot
I think you have presented a display of what im trying to say in full detail. yeah im actaully a fan of the cold weather. I love winter, i love the snow i have no idea why its is but at the same time summer is nice though. But yeah i just bear with it and i just don't let it bother me at all.
-Jøe
I've always thought that was a pretty lame attempt to get a guy to cut his hair. Look at all the young women with long hair. No one is telling them to cut their hair short for summer.
However, now that I'm not such a "young" woman anymore, I'm hearing that too from people.

very cool brother! keep it metal and the long hair growing and flowing :)
I've found myself being cooler in the summer with long hair. Not sure if it has to do with the insulation with sweat and all that, especially since I'm in a drier climate, but I'd rather have the longer hair here in Denver, rather than a buzz cut and complaining about direct sunlight on the skin.

Me three!!!
I guess us guys out here in the west have a different perspective, eh?
LOL
Not so sure of that for I lived so many Years on the East Coast and have spent in the past long enough times in Florida with long hair. Never made me hotter.........but when I fell for a buzz-cut in 2002, living out here in the "Wild West" my head WAS hotter as the desert sun would sting into the scalp.
I rest my case. Glad you said what you did. :-)
The joys off living out west I suppose!
Like I said before, your hair looks straight and healthy. I thrive in hot weather, by the way. Your long hair actually collect sweat and works as a natural air-conditioner.
Regardless

Once your hair is long enough to have a ponytail with it, it isn't that annoying and hot anymore. I think it is really hot and annoying when loose though. As a lifeguard if I'm working around the pool and sweating my hair will stick to my back if it's loose. It's also been in the upper 90s and incredibly humid here in Maryland. How hot does it get where you are?
Yeah my hair is long enough to put it in a ponytail. its at two years of growth. this is how long it really is from the back.
yeah i often put it in a ponytail especially when im working. i love in pittsburgh, pa. were under that heat wave. its been in the 90's all week. the humidity has been up also and its a killer.

I had my head shaved down to skin for about 3 years, and i will not lie it was like air conditioning on my scalp. However being a head shaverhas its own set of problems. s.p.f. 50 is an absolute must (atleast for my irish flesh.Second, sweat tends to run down your face like a river and is way more annoying than hair in your face. I even tried to compromise by wearing a mohawk for about a year and I was still suffering. NOw i have been growing my hair out and feel that I am cooler with A full Mop then when I was shaved, provided I keep it wet on the realy hot days. Any way I look at it, its better than slathering sunblock all over my head
I don't have any problems with long hair in the heat. I think long hair protects you from the sun. Whenever I see a guy with a shaven head in the hot sun I'm thinking that guys brain has to be burning up. Any way women don't seem to have problems with long hair in the summer.
Man, if I had a nickel every time someone said that to me. . . "aren't you hot with all that hair?" It cracks me up, because one of the biggest culprits has been my own mother, who has mid-back length hair! I really don't feel hotter at all with longer hair. I've had everything from a buzzcut to the length I have now, and I honestly don't notice much of a difference. Actually, I take that back: when I had the buzzcut I was hotter with the sun on my scalp.

P.S. You look great, Jøe. Nice pic!
