For those of you who trim your own hair, what kind of shears do you use? I see there are shears that cost more than $150.00.
Google hair scissors. There are good quality ones for $15.00
I thought shears were for sheep for barbers!

People can behave like sheep sometimes. (grin)

I asked a similar question here: http://www.mlhh.org/messages/231893.html
Taize shears are described as "professional quality" but I haven't tried them. They're only 15 dollars though.
Well as you've not ever posted here before that I'm aware of you must not know what were'll all about. We're not a shears board as you can see by the lack of responses to yours and the other shears post further down. You may wish to try somewhere else.
Like Quester said google it and see what you come up with.

Ba ba black sheep have you any wool

and one for the little boy who lives down the drain!
Part of having long hair is keeping it well-maintained, be it with a good shampoo, conditioner, or in the case of knots and split ends, getting trims. There's nothing wrong with asking what kind of scissors people, who do self-trims, use. We all know that if someone is to get a trim, it's best to do so with the sharpest blades possible. Therefore... does anyone know the best brand for trimming/dusting? We aren't all blessed with perfect hair that can grow for years without maintenance.

I agree 100%. Yes, it's true that when people are constantly posting about trims and "should I cut?", it gets annoying. A simple question about what brand of scissors to use is not harmful at all.
I am also wondering what brand is the best.

My Webpage
I've been reading this forum a number of years. I rarely post. My hair is nearly three feet long. I want to trim off 6 inches or so using Feye's self-trimming method. I'm guessing cheap 15 dollar shears is going to cause massive split ends. Just wanted to know if anyone had tried the expensive professional shears. Wasn't expecting people to tell me to go away. Probably why I don't post much in the first place.
Well if you don't introduce yourself a little bit at least one would have to wonder. How are we to koow, as well as a thread had already been started about shears. If you've been reading the board as you say I would think you saw that but then I miss a thread here and there so no worriies really.
As you may be aware we do get a lot of troolls from time to time and must be on our guard.
Cheers
Kevin
I used a pair that I think I paid about a hundred for, but they are grooming scissors and are made to stay sharp and true for many "clippings". I think you can get a good pair for half that for the occasional trim. Just treat them well, don't drop them or let people cut open cardboard box with them and they should be fine.

(btw I hope occasional is taken as meaning once or twice a year only)
