Hello there, Its been a while since I last posted. Its around 10th month here, and Im having loads of issues, and all my female friends just dont want to help me for some weird reason >_>
Im having issues with the side hair... As you can see on pictures, its all wavy AND it stands out like hell.. which makes me wanna take scissors and cut them off :(
Another thing is the front hair.. I just cant seem to keep it nice and tidy, it either gets all wavy and stands out or goes to the sides and looks weird :<
Third thing, for which youre gonna hate me. Should I go to hairdresser and "tidy up" my hair? I mean, I was told to get rid of the hair around my ear and the back hair, to make it look tidier/better. What do you think?
And the last thing (!). My hair is very dry at the tips, any good recommendation on what I should use to save it?
The pictures were done with camera and mirror, so its the other way around if you know what I Mean.
Anyway, here are the pics:
To me your hair is looking great at the point you are presently at. Really nice! But I know, so often oneself can be their own worst enemy when it comes to looks. So on to your questions:
Many guys when growing out their hair feel just as you do. To my eyes all looks just fine and as to be expected when trying to get from point A to point B. If there were a way that you were able to just let yourself go with the flow you would hardly mind the Awkward Stage which many of us actually enjoyed passing through on our way to very long hair. If you were to take sissors and cut, all would just grow right back to what
you are looking at now.
All part of the growing-out process. So many seem to want to keep everything "tidy" throughout their journey to be a longhair, but this is really about impossible. Don't worry, for to hang in there and just let the hair grow will pay off in the end with great (and tame) long hair that many will envy like you wouldn't believe. Your hair presently looks so much like what must be the in-thing where I live in that the teens in so many cases apparently are keeping their hair deliberately within an Awkward Stage. Others at the moment are emerging with long hair as if we were back in the 80's again. And the best part...........nobody is laughing. :-)
I doubt anyone on this board is going to hate you. No way. Whoever told you this should mind their own business. If you DO go to a hairdresser to tidy up, all will be a quick fix but will defeat the whole growing out process and make getting to being a longhair last about forever because all of the tidy up hair that was removed will just grow right back the same way. To get rid of anything at this point would most likely be regretted as has happened over and over through the years on this board to guys who wanted to look picture perfect throughout the growing out process. Best thing to do is to just let all grow and it will settle down perfectly when longer all by itself. I have never seen a case to the contrary happen to anyone who has posted on this board.
Make sure after you shampoo to use much conditioner always.
Best of luck to you and most probably some of the other guys (or gals) on here will chime in with some advice.
Dude, your hair looks fine. I guarantee you'll be satisfied with the way it looks if you just let it grow and ignore any advice to "tidy it up" or whatnot. Everybody with your hair type goes through the exact same phase when growing it out. Just try not to think about it and focus on other things for the time being.
Peace,
Ryan
hey, thats what people call the awkward phase :) just wait for two or three months and it will be much better.
i personally think that you look great with your hair, but i know from my own experience that - especially at this length - your imagination about how you would like to look like and your actual look differs quite a bit.
do not try to correct it with scissors, it would look terrible. just try to get as fast as possible through this phase and that means grow your hair as fast as possible and do not cut it.
i hope you got what i tried to say, as my english is not very well...
You're hair's looking pretty good in my opinion. The unruly sides is just part of the awkward phase. Best thing to do is to just wait it out. :)
Simon, I've scrutinized your photos, and I can't see a thing wrong with your hair. I think it looks really good, actually. I honestly don't feel that your hair needs a cleaning up of any sort.
I think like so many others, you're just not used to seeing what hair looks like as it's growing out.
I'd say just give it some more time, and I think you'll start to feel happier about the way it looks.

It looks fine to me. You're still in the awkward stage, and I can assure you your hair is going to look worse before it looks better.
Just remember not to trim or cut it, because you'll be in the awkward stage that much longer if you do.
since your hair is pretty much of the same texture of mine,I would reccomend using oil repair shampoos and conditioners, like garnier fructis oil repair(I use it),and you could try some jojoba oil or leave in conditioner, whichever works the best for you. Also,if your bangs are long enough, try putting them behind your ears when air drying after a shower,do not comb the ends of your back hair,as they will become very curly if you do it.And lastly, try not shampooing so much,as it causes the hair to dry out,in place, try shampooing and conditioning one day and in the other one wash it with cold water only, this way your hair will keep the natural hair oils and will become more managable.Hope I helped :).peace up,and remember:Do not cut your hair!
Ahh, yes; the awkward stage. Unfortunately every longhair experiences it on the way out to long length. I really have to say though, your hair looks great. Sometimes we can be our own worst critics, and that may be the case here. Your waves look great, and everything looks like it's staying under control pretty well. You may hate your curly/wavy hair now, but when it's longer, it'll look really great.

P.S. On a related note, I can't believe how similar your hair is to mine. Those could be pictures of my head! If my experience is any indication, you should have relatively little trouble with the awkward stage.

Greetings, Simon. From what I see in this this first image your hair looks great. You are in the awkward stage, which will pass, if you avoid cutting it. Avoid the hairdresser. Just let it grow. Try jojoba oil to save the ends of your hair. If your hair is chronically dry you may want to try washing with water only every 2 or 3 days, and just occasionally wash with shampoo, if it gets too oily. You may need to customize a routine that works for you. One guy here who has mid thigh length hair uses water only and it works well for him. I have used water only on my beard for over a year now.

Yep, the awkward stage. Looks great though for the stage your in. Don't touch, just let it grow and you'll be happy with the results

Hi Simon,
In my opinion, there is nothing wrong with your hair at all, and you have come a long ways in 10 months. My suggestion is to just keep on growing your hair, as things can only keep getting better and better.
Keep it growing,
David
Simon, your hair looks fine to me for the months of growth that you report. This is part of growing it out, and to cut it would be an exercise in futility at this stage. The flips and curls are what give your hair character. Everwho says you need to trim or cut for whatever reason now, kindly disregard their entreaties. Remember that taking advice is like separating the gold from the dross.
In a couple more months, the length will solve some of your issues. Not problems, but issues. Your hair looks cool now though.

Time to go to Boots again :p
