Simple question for the people who've passed puberty with their hair, does it get greasy less fast or is that just wishful thinking on my part? xD And at what age exactly do changes happen?
Been so damn long ago I can't remember.
I am 51 now and my skin and hair are still very oily. If I don't wash my hair every day it looks bad. On the plus side, supposedly oily skin keeps it's youthful look longer.
Looking at pictures of myself from a year ago, when i was 12, i look completely different, and thats not counting the hair. I looked so young.
Unfortunately i also looked so ungreasy.
My hair gets greasy amazingly fast, more than a day without wahsing and it feels slimy to the touch. I dont rememeber that happening before.
Sorry.
I couldn't honestly tell you but I'm sure haie gets greasy what ever age you are even if things have dropped!
Cheers,
John.B
Does that mean hair is less greasy in cold weather?
I think there is no connection on grease in your hair and the weather. Your hair may feel greasier during the summer, but that has to do with increased sweat output.
Regardless

It's true. I had major grease problems from age 13-18. I'm 18 now and within the past 6 months it seems to have gone away quite rapidly. All throughout high school (up until the last few months of my senior year) I had to go in the bathroom multiple times a day to wipe the grease off my face with a wet paper towel. Now I can go the whole day without washing my face.
Of course, this was a problem for hair too. When I had long hair, I couldn't shower at night because the roots would get greasy by morning. As a result, my roots were greasy, and my ends would get dry and damaged. I gave up, but I will probably grow long hair again when I'm in college. Starting this fall!
Hi Jake. I would like to see you with long hair again. By the time you graduate from college, your hair will be very long again.
My hair slowly get somewhat greasy when I don't wash my hair. It takes me three days before any sign of grease appears but grease holds my hair in place, so it does not get as messy.
It is not fun to have damaged ends. The only cure for damaged ends is a trim, unfortunately.

It's genetics. My mother will be 77 the end of this month, she washes her hair once a week in winter, and in summer she rinses the sweat out every day, but uses shampoo only once or twice a week. Her scalp is dry.
I seem to take after my dad's side of the family, I'm 45 and my undyed hair is very greasy, just like in middle and high school, even in winter, if I miss a day. I often just cope with it. Of course, I also have other hormonal factors so some times of the month and year are more grease-prone than others.
The only way to really find out is to check with your biological relatives and try to determine patters. Even then, I don't know if grease is dominant or recessive.
My hair actually produces more oil now then before I was in puberty. But my hair did be come more manageable. I also ate healthier after puberty so that my have an effect.
Message your hair vigorously before washing that will help get some of the oil out.
lol I never noticed this due 2 the fact i had short hair at that time

Thanks to everyone who replied! :) And from my research puberty ends at 18.5 years of age (says wikipedia?). I'll be eighteen in two months so we'll see, hehe!
I usually wash my hair every second day (third day if it's looking okay) and on the second day the top of my hair is usually a bit greasy but I know people (girls, so that might make a difference too) who only wash their hair once or twice a week and it looks grand :o
I suppose it's different for everyone, just thought I'd pose the question!
You should see all the stuff women put in their hair. My sister has at least 20 bottles of hair care stuff that she says makes it "healthy".
I just laugh at her :]. All I use is conditioner and good ol' water.
Good olde wikpedia!
Barrels of teenagers sell for more because they contain more oil. [wink]
