My sister and I are in a compitition to grow our hair long. My sister pumps her self with Prenatal vitamins and protean, Glugging down water like it was going out of style. Her hair was growing much faster and much shiner than mine was. In order To catch up I began doing the same, I found no ill affects from the vitamins And lost weight from eating protean. I kicked the Soda out the door and found that Water was the faster and that things like soda contain carbon gass wich cause your hair to stunt. My hair is shiny healthy, And strong. The only side affect is that my nails also grow very fast and strong due to the viatmins. My sister claims that Jello and Gummie Bears also aid to grow your hair very long. I dont know but I have thick strong healthy hair.
Interesting but isn't it a bit risky :-)!! Unfortunately I'm no scientist or chemist but you say Prenatal vitamins with a capital "P" which I've never heard of before. Is this a particular brand name or some kind of ordinary vitamin pill designed specifically for pregnant women ? You also say "Water was the faster" too....meaning it seemed to make your hair grow faster or....??
I've heard when women get pregnant (or is it just after birth ?) these same beneficial changes apparently happen to their hair etc. as well. Caused by increased natural amounts of oestrogen ? Which is the opposite to testosterone I think ?
A lot of if's and guesses here already I know, but isn't this what they give to guys undergoing a sex change and vice versa for women ? Knocking out the testosterone levels meaning higher voice pitch, breasts appearing etc.... ?
Real curious....how long have you been taking them ? :-)
Peter
nah dude, i have heard of this before....the only reason prenatal pills ar given to pregnant women is because they are the best multi vitamin for making sure the baby has enough iron. its just a vitamin, and thats all.
however, how many are you taking, dude? iron is very serious....ask yr sister how many she is taking too...too much iron is toxic and gives you internal bleeding...i forget what the lethal dosage is, but i dont take more than one a night just to be safe. (yeah, im the dude that shaved his head for strokes tickets)
seriously though man, email me
Prenatal vitamins are not hormones (specifically, estrogen), which is what pre- and post- op transsexuals take to form breasts and lessen facial hair, etc.
As for pregnant women, I have a cousin who has actually had a bald spot (alopecia areata) once, thinning hair, and change in texture, when she was pregnant. Peoples' bodies react differently to hormonal changes.
I admit that I don't know much about the supplements that compose pre-natal vitamins, but I wouldn't think it necessary for a man to take them for any reason. It would seem that vitamin B should do the trick for hair. The other vitamins are undoubtedly needed for the woman's changing body and the child she is carrying.
Gelatine has been demonstrated not to help hair growth at all.
Just make sure you have a good diet, reduce the amount of meat, increase fish, perhaps add chicken and substitute lean meat for fatty meats whenever possible.
Personally, I believe exercise, aerobic exercise, is a great boon to hair growth. Also, a couple of glasses of red wine is very helpful, IMO. Gary Null, the noted nutritionist, believes he helped restore his full head of hair by dosing himself with vegetables and vegetable powders.
