A few days ago I cut 1-3 inches off of my hair because the ends were getting really rough. This was the first time I've cut anything since I had short hair. I have almost no tangles now and my hair is soft right to the end. It feels awesome!
The back is still a bit longer than the front. It looks quite uneven in the picture but that's only because the ends curl in all sorts of directions... it's pretty even when pulled straight.
Before long hair, I always had bangs at eye level. My hair was this length at the start of 2007 and I had one trim in April 2007.
Cheers,
Peter
Your hair looks very smooth and nice. Yes, trimming is the only true way to remove damaged hair.
Regardless

Hi Peter,
You have an amazing head of hair there and great colour and I'm sure will even better as it gets longer!
Cheers,

Looks fantastic. Great rate of growth too. Grats.
Hi Peter,
I am glad that your trim worked well for you, and your hair is shiny and healthy, and your ends are nice and even. Now it should be no trouble to grow your hair a lot longer if you wish.
Keep it growing,
David
Hey Peter,
Well hands down you've got some quality hair going there as black straight hair always looks ace.Its too bad you had to loose some length due to rough ends.Did you try to condition the ends before you decided on the trim?I don't know if that would have helped you but something worth trying if it could save the length.Regardless its still great hair! Thanks for the pic.Cheers
Mark
Hi Mark,
I did condition the ends before trimming. I use a Pantene conditioner on the ends every time I wash my hair (every 3-4 days) and also oiled the ends, but they stayed rough. That is why I decided to cut off a small amount.
Cheers,
Peter
First off, the long black hair looks absolutely terrific! No question about that. Just magnificent! :-)
Perhaps this is only a fluke, but the photo to my eyes looks to have been altered. I am basing this upon my personal knowledge and experience of having abilities to do many things with photos such as the one you see above of Thomas Edison in 1877 seated beside the invention of his first phonograph. The original photo of course was in B+W. There were many steps involved in the process of making this into a colourization a recreating an antique photo is the most difficult of all. When done on a modern B+W one cannot tell if the photo was shot in colour or not...........but that came with 2 years of practice and tons of experiments on my part. I also have the ability to modify to an extent facial features as well has enhance aspects of the original photos.
What I see in your hair photo posting looks very much as if the hair came from another source and was put into place over a photo of the back of someone else. In other words, to my own eyes this is the only time on this board that I have ever seen a posted photo that does not look convincing and for real. Naturally my apologies for I am probably incorrect(?). And of the lettering on the shirt in contrast to the hair. Quite a mystery in itself.
Again, all may just happen to have simply been one of those things as to the way the photo came out, but to my eyes it does look to have been tampered with. Perhaps you would be kind enough to post several others photos? Indeed, long black hair such as this is nothing short of magnificent and to be well proud of.
I want to make it clear to everyone that I am NOT acusing you of being a liar. What I AM doing is questioning very highly how a photo could have come out like this. Perhaps you have the answer? If so it would indeed be most interesting to know of and perhaps I could learn something as it is a bit of a puzzle, at least to myself.
Hi Justin,
I find it amazing how you can colour B+W photos and have them look so realistic. Excellent work!
I did alter the photo, but I didn't edit my hair at all. The picture was originally a bit dark, so I increased the brightness quite a bit and also the contrast just a bit. I blurred the lettering on my shirt out for personal reasons, but I will take a few more photos of my hair now. I will leave them entirely unedited... not even brightness changes.
No offense taken! :)
Cheers,
Peter
Hey Peter
Thanks for the explaination as well as compliment. No wonder I was in a bit of wonderment and now well understand why the photo turned-out as it did.
What you have for long hair is nothing short of about the most fantastic one could ever hope for. The shine is simply amazing! You must treasure your exceptional accomplishment in long hair growth very much.
Bravo, applause and a standing ovation are in order!
Thanks so much for posting the update. Truly a great source of inspiration if there ever was.
My best to you and so glad you didn't take offence at my comments. Looks like the laugh is on me for not catching what you had done, so above I am letting a colourized Laurel and Hardy do the laughing. LOL
With all best wishes and many thanks.
Justin~
Justin has some amazing talent in the area of photo editing and colorizing. If ever I had an issue with a photo I just refer it to him.
Your hair looks really good and in fantastic condition your certainly one of the lucky ones.
Kevin
Entirely unedited photo, except for image size and cropping.
Ponytail this time... again no editing.
Great Hair there Peter! With hair this lenght you can choose to keep it there or grow it longer if you wish to.
Cheers

Thanks Joe, your hair looks awesome as well!
Cheers,
Peter
I hope you get more frequent dusting trims, so you don't have to cut 3 inches off in the future. If you get very minor (1/8") trims every 4 months or so, you're hair will continue to feel the same as it does now.
Enjoy!
