I used to have a problem with tangles after a night's sleep. I brought the question to this board, and the solution put forward was to part the hair down the middle, and make two braids. I have been trying this, or a single braid, with very positive results.
Last night I tried something different. I took the hair at the top of my head and sides and made one braid, then made another with the back hair. This morning I let it loose and combed it out, and found that it was far smoother (both in appearance and to the touch) than ever before. (My hair is rather wavy, and shoulderblade length, by the way).
Any comments?
Is your hair oily, middling or dry ? Mine's the same length too but it's always been a bit on the oily side all down the shafts. I'm curious as I never seem to get tangles in the morning only a little bit evenings if it's been tied back all day. Also finger combing is all I've ever done for nearly 3 years now....used a soft natural brush only twice with no real obvious difference.
Perhaps if one's got dry or very thick hair it tangles more easily ?
It'd be fun to know how to braid though :-)
Mine is quite dry, and needs to be oiled regularly. I have tried finger combing or raking, and found it quite helpful.
I I gather that you have found a site that tells you about that.
Yes but turned out way too advanced in the end. Hair Religion told me his beginner's way, even that I'm struggling with ! Co-ordination or something....
You any good at it ?
You didn't say what kind of hair you have. Because you appear to maybe be having trouble, I want to mention this - it is very difficult for a man with curly or very wavy hair to braid his hair himself. With that kind of hair you just can't keep the three segments from constantly hanging together, with them behind your head where you can't see them.
If you have straight or mostly straight hair, you should be able to braid your hair yourself with practice.
Stick straight mostly, fine to medium bit oily and limp if anything but that's only due to conditioners. It's an interesting point you make though.
I'm sure hoping it does come with practice though now that I've finally twigged (duh !) not to look in a mirror whilst learning !! I'm going to try it out on say some curtain cord or something as I've totally given up on myself.
Same with anything engines, computers,,,,I might have the theory it's just the hands aren't aware of it !! ;-)
they work wonders
