Every since I've started growing out my hair it feels like I'm seeing more long-haired men than before. Or is it that I'm just now paying attention to them and they've always been there? My favorite time for "longhair spotting" is in the cafeteria at work during lunch. I'm checking out the lengths and styles of all the long-haired men (some of whom I'm jealous). I suppose it's some kind of psychological thing, like if you bought a new blue Honda Accord you'd start noticing every other blue Honda Accord on the road and think, "Where'd all these blue Accords come from?" I will say, though, that it does appear that long hair in men is coming back into style. :-)
I also see long haired men almost every where I go. I had seen longhaired men when my hair was short. But after I started growing out my hair, I went to a work place where a lot of men are longhairs. In addition to my workplace, I am seen long haired men in the general public more often and it seems that they are becoming increasingly common.

It is my opinion that when a person grows his hair out, they tend to notice it more. I don't think they are becoming more frequent.
out here in the San Francisco Bay Area. When I started growing it out in the early 90s there were not as many as now.

That happened to me when I got my Ford Ranger for my bday. I noticed tons of Rangers on the road and im like "wtf where did these all come from".
Haha it's interesting you should say that. I've been noticing that myself over the past 2 years. I've grown my hair out many different times from the time I was 11 or 12 but it seems this time around I've been noticing a comeback among longhaired males. For one, this forum shows that we are a strong and growing community. But I'm also seeing a lot more kids with long hair as heavy metal is surfacing strongly among the youngans (unfortunatly most of this is crappy metalcore)...also, it seems to becoming a trend among popstars and celebrities to wear hair longer which is cool.
I was just in a Dunkin Donuts that I frequent almost daily and they had a new trainee. a long haired kid whow as about 16 or 17 and as I was leaving he goes "keep that long hair growing man". It made my day really (as silly as that sounds). At that point I only wished we had those business cards to hand out that were discussed in an earlier forum. I honestly think that was a great idea. In either case I'll definatly mention us to him. Great observations Bill.

Hi Bill,
At least in the Halifax arear, it DOES seem that long hair on men is more common than it used to be. It is very rare these days when I go for my daily walk to the nearby mall and fail to see at least one other guy with long hair on my travels.

It could be both; they are not mutually exclusive by any means!
The awareness of it is a factor, as I am constantly reminded daily by the lack of long haired men in the area where I live. I may see two or three a week at the most unless I go to a festival, etc.
I took my daughter to the airport last week; it was crowded. I noticed three other men with long hair (long enough to tie back)in an hour in a crowded airport
Where I live there are certainly more long hairs than I have seen since the early 80's.........though nowhere near as many. But, they ARE out there, and it isn't just the youth either. All seems to have come about in the last 2 years and appears to be continuing in this trend. I would say you ARE seeing for real.
