I took 2 new photos of my hair loose, and freshly washed. I wanted to do something artistic, unusual, and unique. In fact, I am unsure if anyone else here has ever posted hair shots like this on MLHH.
The face shot is with the camera looking up through a tunnel of dangling hair. I held it held at arm's length aimed up to get the shot.
The other shot is looking down towards the floor through that same tunnel of dangling hair.
Scott
Wow Scott I don't think I ever saw a pic of you without your hair tied back! You look totally different with it loose and free. Also I can't recall anyone doing this type of camera angle so it is a first.Your hair looks great loose but with your length I can understand why you need to restrain it especially outdoors.Btw is your hair still growing or do your think its at terminal? Thanks for posting those cool pics.Oh one more thing....Max from your area is out here visiting in NJ for the month and I had the chance to speak to him over the phone. He sounds like a really nice guy and we plan to meet up sometime while he's out here.Take care my friend of yourself and that hair:)
Mark
----------------------------------------------------------------
Hi Mark, this camera view turned out to be a winner. I did give it a bit of thought to originality.
I would never have gotten half my length without tying my hair up. My hair tends to frizz and knot and is far from ideal to grow really long. I have a mix of about 60 to 70% straight hair with the rest being wavy to somewhat curly.
My hair is about as long as it will get. My personal record for a shed strand is 45 1/4". I think it has gotten a bit thicker. My ponytail is a bit fatter than it used to be. It is 2.7" in girth, up from 2.6".
I sure do want to meet Max. He lives in Guerneville, which is about 70 miles north of me. Hopefully I can meet him at the next SF longhair meet, or visit him in Guerneville on a cool day. (Heat gives me fevers and raises my blood pressure.)
Finally, I do want to meet you when you are out west again.
Scott
That is one of the neatest, most novel hair shots I've ever seen. Great!

I am glad you like it. It took a bit of thinking as to what would look original. I am considering entering it in a photo contest.
Scott
Hey Scott !
Interesting point of view ! It's original and fun. You have a great hair color.
Bye
Vivien
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Thanks Vivien, I guess I got a winner with this shot. Take care.
Scott
Very cool Scott! (And funny too!). A very cool idea that only a very select few have hair of a long enough length to pull off. As Mark mentioned, it's awesome to see you without your hair tied. As you are one of the senior longhairs in this community, and I mean by achievement of growth not age ; ), I think it would be awesome to see a few pictures of you wearing your hair out; of course it is your choice. Thanks a lot for sharing, very cool idea!
-Phil
Hi Phil, the reason I tie it is to protect it from damage. If I kept it loose, it would never have gotten so long. I have fine, delicate hair that tangles and breaks easily.
Scott
Ah I see, and judging by your current length, you've obviously made the right decisioin and know what your doing! Thanks for sharing the interesting photos; you're length is surely a great inspiration to everyone on this board.
-Phil
Hi Scott,
This is a really cool photo, and you are right, I have never seen one like this photo before. That is a LOT of hair, displayed in such a unique way!
Keep it growing,
David
I guess I am trying to outdo Karsten. I may have succeeded. LOL
Scott
Your photos looks quite interesting. The shot facing down looks like you are walking through a path between bales of hay. The second photo (facing up) looks like you are touching something electrical at a science lab (when you touch something slightly electric, your hair can stand up). An example of an optical illusion.
Regardless
My MySpace - feel free to add me as a friend
I guess it does look like hay in the downward shot. My hair is so long now (well over 3 feet) that it probably would not stand up if electrically charged.
Scott
I Don't think even Karsten has done that one.
Kevin
-----------------------------------------------------------------
I don't think he has either, Kevin. These shots will likely give him a run for his money, when it comes to originality. Hopefully he will see them.
Scott
Very interesting shots, Scott. That's one thing I'm just really becoming aware of as my hair gets longer, although at my length it's more of an underpass than a tunnel!
-----------------------------------------------------------------
You have enough length to do some artsy shots right now, George. In a few years it should reach your waist.
Scott
Man, those are some sweet locks bro. Excellent display of art and originality too.
Peace
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Thanks, I am going to try and think up a few more hair photo possibilities too. I am thankful to have such long hair at 55 years old.
Scott
Very interesting Scott! I imagine myself standing in a cascading waterfall and and looking up. But wait, when did the sun grow such a nice beard?! Great shot!
Bruce
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Thanks, Bruce. I gave it a lot of thought to come up with something new and unusual. I live alone, so I have to photograph myself. I had just washed my hair and looked down when the idea came to me. Take care.
Scott
Hi scott,
That's a indeed an unique way to show your hair, I really like it!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Glad you like it. I needed some new photos and this is what I came up with.
Scott
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hi Brian, I do have a photo or 2 with my hair loose, but I keep it tied up most of the time to protect it. My hair is fine and delicate, so it needs a lot of protection.
Scott
Very cool! I too regularly experience this kind of "tunnel vision", but you must be the first person ever to capture it on film (;-)
Ed
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hey Ed
You must have even worse "tunnel vision" than me due to having even longer hair. BTW, I actually captured it on silicon rather than film. LOL
Scott
Lovely...a very obstract and interesting photo!
Cheers,
John.B
-----------------------------------------------------------------
I thought you might like it John. I had to try something unusual and new. I hope you are doing well on your side of the pond.
Scott
...I have never seen anything like it. Magazines, newspapers, etc. are ALWAYS looking
for pics as unusual as these. If I were you I'd give it a try.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
I never have either, so I am considering submitting one or both of them in a photo contest after see the responses here.
Scott
Wow Scott. How original and fabulous as well as unique are those photos. Just great! You MUST be mighty proud of your magnificent long hair.
All the best-
Justin~
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Yeah, the idea just hit me while drying my hair, and I came up with someting original and new. Glad you liked it.
Scott
Hi Scott, thats really cool, also its good to see your hair down, I don't ever remember seeing a picture of your hair loose.
Cheers Dave
Hi Dave, I don't wear it down much due to it being fine and delicate. It tangles very easily. If I wore it loose all the time I would have to cut perhaps 60% of the length off. I am not willing to do that. My hair is far less than ideal to grow really long, but I did it anyway. The price I pay is that I have to keep it in a segmented tail 99% of the time.
Scott
just how long it is. This is a self portrait. It is difficult to get all of my hair in a single photo. This shot required a step stool in front of the bathroom mirror. I live alone so it is hard to get good photos of myself. I will try to get some more good ones at the next local long hair meet.
Scott
Great self-portrait! Nice shot, good angle and a "wow" to the hair length too!
Excellent.
By the way, ever try using a hand mirror? Just point the camera INTO the hand mirror (just a couple of inches away from it, really) while the mirror is reflecting your image from a wall mirror.
That's the way I have taken most of my self-portraits. Either that way or a direct, no mirrors approach...which is really hit or miss (but with digital, who cares how much "film" is wasted).
Thanks for posting. Really excellent!
