Hello everyone,
I've been very busy lately with my tests and finishing paperwork for school. It's the end of the year so always a busy period.
That's the reason I wasn't very active last week, but I did read here now and than.
There were some great updates from Rafael, Quester, Regardless, Fire, red headz (welcome!), Bill S., Joe, Peter, Austin and anyone who I may haven't named here. Good progress everyone, next time I hope I can make a personal comment again.
That I have a question about my hair, I usualy wash my hair twice a week. After washing it's always hard to comb it through and more prone to tangles. I noticed this week when I waited a bit longer with washing that it was a lot easier to comb trough although it was greasy. I didn't spend so much time combing and untangling my hair. Is there anyway to create the same effect without it looking greasy, maybe leave in conditioner?
btw I missed my 9th month update but I will do one again at 10 months. A new milestone I reached is being able to put my hair in mouth :)
I personally like using oil repair shampoos, like garnier fructis, and after towel drying it a lil bit,I apply hair serum on the ends only, then gently comb my hair from the scalp to the ends with a wide tooth comb, and I do not comb the ends on the back, cause it creates messy tangles;then it's just air dry.Doing this makes my hair much softer and not so dry.O yea,you can also try washing your hair with cold water only,as it doesn't wipe out the natural oils and makes your hair more stable.Hope I've helped :).Good luck!
...after trying just about every technique possible and every product product available...as far as I am concerned the
BEST thing you can do is to get a bottle of ViVE Pro conditioner (for thick hair)and TOTALLY SATURATE your hair with the stuff.
Use AS MUCH as you think you need (I've used up to 1/2 a bottle when I needed to be on time for an appointment.
INSTRUCTIONS:
* SHAMPOO HAIR (use high quality shampoo only or your hair will become your worst enemy). Vive Pro Shampoo (in your case: for THICK Hair). Use SMALL amount like a tsp. worth. First time around you won't get lots of suds but that is a GOOD thing!
* RINSE
* SHAMPOO AGAIN (I don't care what anyone says, the second time around DEFINITELY gets rid of more loose hairs, dandruff, etc.
(careful...use tiny amount of shampoo as suds will increase dramatically with 2nd shampoo).
* RINSE WELL (but do NOT attempt to even finger comb your hair yet).
* SQEEZE as much water as possible out of your hair.
* Apply CONDITIONER in HUGE amount. ViVE is not expensive. Use up to 1/3 or 1/2 bottle--or at least until your hair feels like it has a bowl of pudding on it! (not exaggerating).
* FINGER comb your hair until there are absolutely NO tangles, etc.
* Now use SHOWER comb (wide teeth; hooked handle for hanging) or any plastic, wide tooth comb.
COMB until there are no tangles.
* RINSE THOROUGHLY. (very important to get all of the conditioner OUT).
* SQUEEZE water out.
* COMB again with WIDE TOOTH comb.
* Wrap hair completely in large bath towel. Leave the towel on for about 10 - 15 minutes.
* Remove towel and give hair one final combing with the wide-tooth comb.
* STYLE as usual. (liquid Spray Gel is a big help).
Good Luck!
...Justin...
Sometimes when you are in a rush you need to take drastic steps.
If anyone wants to spend an hour trying to unscrew their hair--fine!
But I say, smoother it; drown it in conditioner until the hair can't even come up for air.
THAT should fix things. Anyway, conditioner WILL untangle the most knotted hair.
PS: You were the finest President ever. (at least based on what I know about the 'situation').
That is very good and useful advice and thanks Luckskind for sharing that.
Cheers,
John.B
Thanks for the advise, I will definately try it.
In addition to other methods (Luckskind's is quite useful), I recommend detangling your hair as much as possible BEFORE getting it wet. Whenever I wash mine, I make sure I can run a brush through it from root to tip without incident (starting with finger combing and a wide-toothed comb first). Of course, depending on your hair type you may want to stop at just a wide comb or even fingers. In the shower, I try to keep it all going in the same direction (slicked-back look) during all phases of the cleaning/conditioning/rinsing process. This keeps the tangling to a minimum
Good luck!

Hey Vincent,
I do like Mouse suggested and detangle before I shower. The natural oils act as a natural conditioner and help smooth the detangling process. Plus, since wet hair, as we all know, is the weakest, you risk less damage detangling while dry. The added benefit is that you spread your natural oils through your hair during the detangling, which reduces (eliminates, in my case) the need for artificial conditioner.
Whatever you do, be gentle to minimize breakage!
Wish you the best,
Joshua
P.S. I also reached the "hair in mouth" milestone this month. If I don't watch it, my bangs end up in my drink!

Hi Vincent, I was wondering where you went off too, I thought
maybe you went on holiday. I know what it's like to get busy I've been swamped lately myself.
Looking forward to the next update
Take Care
