My length is getting very nice. But I noticed today a bunch of new hairs at the very front of my hair line. Will be a LOOOng time before they can be put into a tail for sure. But it's better than losing ground. Guess I will be in perpetual awkward stage forever. (thank Leaf and Star!!)
Not at all new hair grows all the time, so call it constant renewal and none of hairs are the same length. But the overall effect with longhair is it looks as all the hair is the same length. It's ongoing old hair dropping out and new hair growth. I noticed it in the wind when you get stray frizzies blowing about when I have it tied back so you knew new grwoth is always going on.
I hope that helps.
Cheers,

The same thing had happened to me,I had some additional frizzy and shorter hair growing on my bang's hairline,so I shaved it off,and now my hair feels much better :).
*shudder*
Exactly shudder, trimmer ewww!
That now seems to be a fad among NBA players, to shave your hairline on your forehead like you'd shave down lower to shape a beard. Ewwww, gross, indeed! How to make yourself look hideously ugly in thirty seconds flat. Just like we expect to see people with two eyes, we expect hairlines to be natural.
One guy on American Idol this past year shaved his forehead, and one day he shaved it crooked. On national television on America's most popular show. We were rolling on the floor.

and my hair reaches the back of my knees. Old hairs shed out and new ones grow in to replace them. You will probably always have 10 or even 15% of your hair that does not reach the pony tie. For me it is about 10%.

Between 10 and 15%... Imagine what volume of hair we could have if all our hair were long... :)
Man those hairs drive me insane!! Just when you think they're under control, someone get a big fan blowing on you from behind!
Bruce
Yep Yep that's the way it is!!!
I had same problem when my hair was long. You just need to grin and bear it as I did
I have always had those short type hairs in the front. I think it is just a normal thing and wouldn't worry about it. Probably just part of the life-cycle of hair growth.
Those hairs on many men have a shorter terminal length, and if so, they will never get longer. Just get used to dealing with them each time you come indoors, and you will be fine. People have a higher tolerance for messy hair when you are outside. Even if you don't have this specific problem, getting your hair neat again when you come inside is a good idea. Wind outside always messes up your hair a bit.
