Hey good people,
I have been lurking for a little while off and on, and now I have a couple questions.
First, I was wondering about hair loss. It seems that having long hair makes it much easier for your hairs to fall out. This does not speed up the process of balding, does it? I would think not but I wanted to ask someone who knew.
Second, I am getting married to a lovely lady in a few months. I usually have a very natural and casual approach to my hair, I don't really style or treat it or do anything special with it. But I decided that the one day out of my life that I will go nuts with my hair is my wedding day. I was wondering if anyone could direct me to some cool and intricate styles that I could get done for a wedding - possibly involving lots of braids (but my hair is pretty straight).
The pic is a bit old, my hair is now a few inches beyond my shoulders and my beard is a bit more full.
Thanks for reading everyone,
Eli
Balding is a result of genetics. having long hair won't effect it UNLESS you have braids or pony that are so tight it pulls on your scalp. That is a bad thing. There are some others who know a lot more about styling than me so I will leave it to them to comment on that.
Congratulations on your upcoming wedding! I hope it all goes well for you.
On the hair loss front, I think it's a case of if you're going to lose it, you're going to lose it. Each follicle is strong enough to hold any length of hair that grows from it so growing it long shouldn't cause you to lose any. The only thing that will is pulling it into too tight a style, so don't yank too hard if you're braiding it etc.
As for suggestions for what to do with your hair for your wedding, a lot of that depends on you and what you like. You could easily go for something like a French or Dutch plait, a herringbone braid or a Legolas braid. I'd suggest finding someone who can do each of those for you a few weeks beforehand and try them out to see which you prefer or experiment with other different styles and see how you get on. There are quite a few websites with instructions on how to do them, one of them being: http://www.dreamweaverbraiding.com/index.htm
Enjoy.
1. No having longhair doesn't increase hair loss if you look at Bills web page on being a longhair a hair shaft may break at different points thus giving the impression of hair loss. Your simply shedding much like your cat does. Your hair is thickest at your scalp and gets thinner the longer it gets.
2. Congrats on your marrying a Lovely Lady. I'm anused that no one ever says they're marrying an ugly old cow, or old hag. LOL
May the two of you have a long and successful marriage.
As for what to do with your hair unless you have a theme to the wedding I would just let it hang loose if it were my wedding.

lol! That was hilarious. You forgot "Sea Donkey"!
But wait! NOT "Sea Donkey, "SEA MONKEYS" available in one of your favorite toy stores. Just "hatch" the eggs and they come to life and swim "UPSIDE DOWN!" I just got mine in the toy store in my area: "Goo-Goos Toys for Tots." Also got a do-it-yourself sandbox complete with directions as to how to throw a tantrum! LOL
Oh man, you're killing me! Hahaha!
Hey Chris
Kill you with anything? Never! But..........get this:
Had to just return the Sandbox cause it came with imitation sand! Can you imagine? "IMITATION!" And the Lady at the counter of "Goo-Goos Toy Store" has threatened to quit saying "all sales are final." Had to point out the misleading ingrediants so she swapped all for the best model J, (not T), 3 wheeler I have ever had complete with genuine plastic horn and bell ringer attached to the handle bars. And the best part is no cost for gas! (Only your legs wear-out instead.) Hmmmmmm is the moon full or something? LOL :-)
take care
Justin~
Hey Eli,
1: NO, long hair doesn't = hair loss. Like Quester said, avoid tight tails, braids, dreds as they can result in traction alopecia but that's easily avoided by not wearing a tail tightly. Also, the reason one might think long hair causes balding is because when you shed a hair, as anyone would, it's many times the size of a short hair person's hair and therefore more visible.
2: Congratulations on your upcoming wedding. I agree with Kevin, I would wear it down, I never tie my hair back and I think, in my personal case, my gf prefers it down. Your call though.
3: Very nice photo; though it is difficult to see your hair as the photo is dark around your face. Your cat is awesome too! Thanks for sharing!

Hair falls out at the same rate, short or long, but you notice it more when it's long. The hairs clog your sink and shower drains, and seem to be everywhere. A full healthy head can lose 100 hairs a day. A thinning head like mine will actually lose less, because there's less to lose.
Traction alopaecia, like they all said. I've actually seen girls with an unnaturally high hairline from wearing too tight a ponytail all the time. Normally wearing a ponytail even every day won't do that, it has to be too tight. Also, the hair can grow back in that case, whereas it won't grow back by itself if it's male pattern baldness.
As for your wedding, I think the Legolas style might be good, because it would keep your hair out of your face at the front and sides while leaving the length hanging down loose. If you don't know the style, he was an elf with blond hair and a bow and arrow in the Lord of the Rings films! Should be plenty of pics online. Of course, the actor was wearing a wig, but it looks good on real humans with real long hair, LOL! You should take a pass on the fake pointed ears, though.
It basically involves making two braids with just the sides of your hair, and then joining them together at the back. You could learn how to do it yourself, but lots of girls have someone else put their hair in a style for their wedding day, so there's no reason you couldn't have someone else do it for you too, so as to make a perfect job of it. What's good for the goose is good for the gander, I say. I bet you have at least one female relative who is good at braiding hair.
We have a really great wedding pic hanging on our wall with our hair blowing in the wind. If my wife and I had all our hair restrained that picture wouldn't look half as good. That's why I'd say wear it loose or try the fantasy movie elf look, LOL!
I like your beautiful white kitty cat. Your cat is cute. Cats are actually my favorite animals.
