i was so sad to hear of his death on June 22 i just found out today that he died wow i just cant believe it, he died of heart failure in las vegas
How old is he? If he's old, obviously he is going to die at some point. If he's young, then it is really awful.
Regardless

Oh dear I never knew of him, was he like Phyliss Diller!

You never heard of George Carlin? The seven words you can't say on TV? There are many, many clips of him on Youtube.
For the USians, over last night and tonight, HBO is airing 11 of his specials.
I've heard of his name in a couple of mentions on here, yes I saw link to the multitude on You Tube and I did check that out this evening. I see he did have longhair in the 70's
I must have been living down a mineshaft as I can't recall taking off in the UK that much!
Cheers,

I moved from the UK to the US back in '89 and I had never heard of him before I came over here. He was quite funny, though, and he used to have long hair. Mind you, YouTube clips of the old long-haired hippie George Carlin are whimsical, with some absurd rhymes, whereas the modern ones of him as a balding old guy are quite ascerbic, and really a different kind of humour altogether, like he had soured with age, but he was still funny either way. It's worth a look.
I could be wrong but I think Phyliss is still alive, If she is she must be damn near 108 by now.

Damn, this guy was my hero :(
Mine, too. I'm really glad now that I took the opportunity to see him live back in March.
Likewise: he's one of the few comics whose material never went out of style. I have some of his vinyl's and they're still HILARIOUS and applicable today.
Totally sucks. I saw his most recent HBO special and he is still hilarious. Great comedian, why couldn't it have been Dane Cook instead of Carlin.
If you live in U.S. or anywhere Saturday Night Live is carried from NBC, you will get to see G.C. again this Saturday when the program is broadcast in your area. As a tribute to George Carlin, NBC is going to broadcast the very first SNL from 1975 which was hosted by Carlin. I have not watched SNL in years but I plan to make a point of trying to see it this time.
Yeah, he was my favorite comedian.
Its sad, I really liked the guy.
I always looked forward to see him live. Guess it's not possible anymore...
