I know I need to lose a few lbs LOL. But anyway I finally found a place where I could scan my pics(cost and arm and a leg but I did it!) I'm Eric again, the kid who was having a crisis about whether to cut his hair to get a job in the beauty industry. I've had an epiphany. It will be more difficult but I love myself and my hair. Wherever I work and whoever I surround myself with will also have to do the same for me.
That's a very nice mane you've got Eric Welcome to mlhh.
Kevin
That's one inspiring mane,Eric,that's the length I'm going for,so yes,I'm jealous XD.Welcome to our board :).

You have a gorgeous waist length mane. Don't let anyone talk you into cutting it.
Scott
Nice hair. I myself need to lose a few pounds too, but I force myself onto the treadmill my threatening myself with a haircut. Haha.
You look fine to me. And your hair looks fantastic!!! They would lose more than their desire if they tried to cut my hair. good call on your part. I wish you good luck in your quest.
Welcome to the board !
Your hair is just beautiful and I would not even consider cutting it under the circumstances you have been describing. I still do not understand why a hair salon of all places is balking at that....you would think that impressive hair would be be a sales attraction (unless you are applying on a Marine Base ! HA!) Stick to your guns, there are many places that will welcome you.
thanks for sharing.

Thank you soooooo much. You have no idea what your words mean to me. I'll be honest......my parents and grandparents have been pushing me to cut it from since I started growing it all those years ago. But now I'm a legal adult, so I can be the big black sheep all I want and they'll just have to learn to accept me. Now, as long as I somehow get a decent job and earn my own money they really don't care how I choose to wear my hair. I suppose that all works out. Although, I do wish more men would also be more courageous and grow their hair as long as I have so we wouldn't be a ostracized minority. I suppose the unwritten rule in many of these upscale salons is that you have to look clean cut and conservative so you don't scare off the Wall Street suit and ties and the well heeled stay at home soccer moms.
Hi Eric,
Wow... your hair looks awesome as I see no reason to laugh. Also as a matter of fact there are people who would envy hair such as yours.Great length, colour, and texture what more could one wish for.I certainly can't understand why any salon would not appreciate what your have accomplished in the hair dept.Believe me don't cut your mane no matter what.Take care my friend and good luck.
Mark
Thank you. I think it really is because my hair length is verrrrrrrry ubiquitous. I mean, the longest acceptable length for men in general society is shoulder length, and I raced past that length more than 6 years ago and I never wish to return to that awkward length once again. So you can see how waist length hair even when pulled back in a respectable ponytail would still seem out of place in a clean cut conservative kind of environment. I should have mentioned also that the type of salon you apply to is also very important, if the Wall Street suit and tie guys and homemaker soccer moms go there you can bet you having waist length hair would really not go over well. Ahh, such is the discrimination we all go through as a visible minority group.
You have great looking hair!
I hope you find the job you're looking for. If it's any consolation, I've heard of women who were also told to get hair that length cut shorter to work in a salon, but they just found work in a different one. I reckon the owners think it's bad for business if you have long hair and it looks that good. They depend on customers regularly getting their hair cut, and you can't maintain much length if you have it trimmed too often, so that's why I think they don't like it.
OTOH, I wouldn't want mine trimmed by anyone who didn't have long hair. FYI, I used to get trims from a long haired Greek guy who was a stylist at a place in Crystal City, Arlington, VA, so there are long haired men cutting other people's hair.
For that matter, if you visit the Long Hair Community (Google it) there is a user there called Purple Bubba who is a hair stylist and has long hair. You're thinner than him, too, LOL. I think I can get away with saying that, because I'm not all that svelte myself. He's a nice guy, although he doesn't post all that frequently anymore, but you could e-mail him from that site (might have to join?). I'm sure he'd like to talk, and he may have some advice. He lives somewhere in Michigan. I don't know where you are.
Looks fantastic Eric! I think you've made a wise choice. I'm sure that there's a place for you out there. I would dress sharp, maybe just shy of flashy and go into an interview with confidence in your skills. They would be foolish to turn you down based just on your hair!
Bruce
(Welcome btw if I have'nt said that before)
Your hair looks nice and you should keep it long. Dress up nice for the interview, and even if they tell you to cut your hair, don't do it. There is nothing for me to laugh at on this post.
Regardless
My MySpace - feel free to add me as a friend
Just kidding. You have a great mane there Eric. Welcome to the board :-)
there's gotta be a salon in NY (C?) that you'll fit in! Looks good. great length.
As to losing a few pounds, there are a couple of guys on the board, I think, who have lost some extra weight. When you feel you are ready to cut the garbage out of your diet, go for it! I think you'll be happy when you've got the body to go with the hair. ;)
I FULLY GREE WITH ELEKTROS CONCERNING FEELING MORE RELAXED WITH A LONGHAIRED MALE HAIRDRESSER. WELL I ASSURE THAT OUT OF MY PERSONAL EXPERIENCE, IVE BEEN CUTTING MY HAIR AT THE SAME SALON (WHO I TRUST) FOR 15 YEARS. KEPT AT MID BACK LENGTH FOR THE LAST 12 YEARS.. HE ALWAYS ASKS ME AS USUAL? EXPECTING AN URGE TO CHANGE, CUT, WHICH I MITIGATE! BUT 10 MONTHS AGO, HE WAS ABROAD & FEELING IN NEED OF A TRIM I TRIED AT ANOTHER SALON WHERE I WAS TREMBLING RELUCTANTLY. IT WAS THAT LONGHAIRED HAIRDRESSER WHO APPRECIATES MORE LONG HAIR & CUTS LESS THAN EXPECTED OR INSTRUCTED TO! NOW IM USED TO HIM NOW AND GOT AWAY FROM THE NORMAL PANIC AND RESPONSE TO THE QUESTION UPON TRIMMING .
YOU HAVE ATTRACTIVE HAIR, JUST MAITAIN IT MORE WITH YOUR SKILLS.. I RECOMMEND THAT YOU ACHIEVE BLUNT ENDS..
