Thought I'd share another strange comment I got in passing this last weekend.
I was setting up near a road for an outdoor gig and I heard a male voice shout, "That's not your real hair".
I turned around in time to see a tinted backseat window closing on a SUV which was being driven by a middle-ageish woman. It seemed likely that the person commenting may have been a teenage son to the woman.
Now...my hair was braided back and I was wearing a baseball cap that day but it was such an oddball sort of comment for someone to make that I had to chuckle to my guitar player that I'm not sure what the guy was trying to say (unless he had Terets)...because yes, it IS my real hair.
Hi there Hair Religion. I have never gotten a "Your hair is fake/a wig/extensions" insult before, but believe me I've gotten a lifetimes worth and then some of "Cut your hair you f%%%%%!" or just scornful stares from random people on the street and unfortunately so people I have to deal with in every day life. There are light spirits in this world, and then there are dark spirits. I try not to let the dark spirits snuff out my flame, although believe me I've come quite close to letting it happen and at time I do get tempted to cut my hair off just for the relief of peace of mind so I don't have to hear such hateful remarks thrown at me.
There are ball caps on the market with ponys and braids attached. Why I dunno but they are out there. That's my guess.
Yep, you get them at places that sell Halloween costumes, etc. My guess is they really thought that's what it was, and the comment was because they really thought you were faking it. Silly people!
Haha...one would wonder what the point of that comment was and what he was trying to prove...and who was this kid trying to impress, his mom? lol
What kind of music do you guys play?

Here's a link to the band Ultrathrash:

I really like their stuff but I've not heard them play live and hoping to rectify that soon.
Cheers,

Thanks John,
Though I'm not big on thrash (assuming by the name, they're thrash), I will certainly check these guys out as soon as I get home (myspace = blocked at work lol). Metal is metal though!

That is strange, never heard that one before. In fact I have not had the pleasure of so many of the comments and situations that people have posted about over the years. I feel rather as I've missed out on something. (grin)
Maybe I need to get out more.
Kevin
That's surprising.
I haven't received the "is that real?" comment for many years. Hair as long as yours or mine can't be anything other than real.
Ed
It "could" be possible that the person that shouted this at you had never even seen such long hair in his life which would account for his disbelief. My best guess. But, if he only knew! :-)

A few years back a child asked if my hair was real. At that time my hair was maybe a little past classic length. (It reaches the crease of my knees now.) The child was maybe 8 years old.

You could have said that as an ordained minister of Hair Religion it would be sacrilege for you to wear fake hair! Hey, you get to make up the theology as you go, it's your religion.
