Somedays ago I posted some new photos of myself to show my hair growth. Some comments were made about me beeing a minor. Kindly, Kevin C quote the rules about minor pictures and I honestly think I'm not breaking any rules at all. When I starter reading and posting on this board I was only 15 or 16, I´m not sure, and now I´m 17 and a half. In all the time Ive in contact with this site no one of the peoples in charge have ever told me that I'm breaking any rules, so if I am doing something wrong Id like that the moderators or someone with the "power" to it would get in touch with me. If someone else has any comment about my age, I'll be glad to ear it but I'd apreciate if it was made in a direct way, telling me what they thought is wrong, instead of just mention that I'm a minor.
I've always liked this board, and If i read it and post in here is only because I have something in common with all of you, the passion for long hair, either in men or women. People of all ages have always made comments to my pictures and Ive NEVER found any of it inapropriate. I don't look at people's age!
I just hope this me beeing a minor issue isnt gonna create any problems, but, like I said before, if anyone feels uncomfortable with, please, just reach out and talk to me in a polite and reasonable way.
Good luck to you all
No issues here Catrina. Machinehead was just raising a concern in a helpful way. I went and looked up the rules and posted them so anyone who was also concerned could see.
You are within the rules and your photos were tasteful and artistic
We have many people under 18 years old post photos and as long as they are not sexually suggestive there's no problem. The moderators would e mail you privately if there was an issue.
Thanks
Kevin
Thank you Kevin, I was just surprised by machinehead comment, because it looked a little incriminatory to me and I, honesstly didnt getwhere he wanted to go with it.
Yup, I'm still under 18...for a month :p
Hi Catarina!
This has nothing to do with your post but I just wanted to tell you that I saw you live on the last day of Festroia this year, in Setubal! (Hmm... should I be writing this in portuguese?)...
Anyways, you did look directly at me but I don't know if you recognised me, as I had my hair curly for being washed in the same day. I did recognize you tough and you do look pretier live! Your haircut's nice too!
Just tought it was a nice thing to share ^^
Hi Joao,
Good to see yuou posting and I hope all is well.
Cheers,
John.B
Hey John!
Yup, everything's fine, just started my holidays! Thank's for asking! Hope all is well with you too!
Great to hear it. You should really update you avatar and show of the wonderful hair you have now it's even longer.
Cheers,
John.B
I replied in the previous post before seeing this new one, but I'll repeat what I wrote there. In my opinion it is inappropriate for you, a minor, to post pictures that are of even a slightly sexy nature on a board that is intended to be used by adult men. I also wanted to be sure that the men who were viewing and commenting on the pictures were fully aware that you are underage. Perhaps I've overreacted, but please believe that my intentions were/are good.
Im thankfull for your concern, just wished you've explain it better in your first post.
You say you think its unapropriate for me, beeing a minor, to post pictures that have the slightest sexy nature in a board thats suppose to be used by adult man. Even tough I respect your right to have and express your opinion, I have to express mine to. First of all, I dont think my pictures have a sexy nature, they're noral pictures that I'd post evrywhere, I have them posted in other places besides here. Second, I think there's no place in this board where its said that it is strictly for adults (I believe that if it were, I would have been told) and I clearly remember reading that women were also welcome to the board. So, if there are minors from the male gender and there are other woman, I cant find anything wrong in a minor from the female gender.
Like I said, this was just my opinion that I felt that I have to give, like you certainly felt about your opinion.
Thanks for the reply, Catarina. Everything you've written makes sense, and you're right, I never considered the fact that this board is intended for those age 13 and up (not just for adults).
I never meant to imply that you shouldn't be allowed to post here, I was just wondering why you posted the pictures you did. Forgive me if I'm wrong, but you'd be naive to think your pictures wouldn't draw comments that, coming from adult men, seem inappropriate (and in some sense, it seemed like you were specifically looking for comments like that).
Sorry if I overreacted. I tend to enjoy causing a bit of drama now and again. LOL!!
There isn't anything in the rules about age. Continue to post. I would like to bring up a topic, though.
Kevin C - if someone is under the age of 18, who gives you the right to say they can't post? Age is meerly a pebble in this case. I'm sure some people here have problems with pornography, and those issues need to be dealt with. Maybe you are one of them. Is that why you're suggesting minors shouldn't post? So you don't trip over the boulder in your path?
Puh-LEEZE.

This is a privately owned board moderated to a set of standards available to all.
Kevin is the current president of this board; his position gives him the authority to make decisions regarding content.
Your post is completely out of line. You accuse someone of having issues with pornography just because you don't agree?
One of the reasons we have moderators is to keep unfounded accusations and personal attacks from occurring. If you have proof that Kevin has issues and they are affecting the operation of this board, provide it to the moderating crew and let them handle it.
If you don't have proof, I suggest it may be you that has issues. False accusations against others is stooping pretty low just because you might not agree with what was said or done.
You owe Kevin a public apology.

Thanks George,
This mystery person has not got all his or her facts together and should e mail the crew with any issues.
Kevin
And you are!
And from what rock did you just climb out from under? Any board issues, just mail them to the "Crew." Or better yet, mail your mouth to the moon!
1. MLHH is private property. Like a restaurant that welcomes the public, the owners can make rules and ask anyone to leave if the owners feel their behavior is inappropriate. An owner may choose to give a reason when asking someone to leave, or not. It is pointless to give spammers or users posting obviously inappropriate material a reason. We just lock the door. If someone is a regular and has been posting with their e-mail address the crew may e-mail them if they feel the user genuinely does not know what the problem is. To a large extent this is a triage problem - the crew does not have the time to write unnecessary e-mails. Few e-mails are written concerning rejected material because anyone reading the rules can already see why. One reason we wrote the rules was to save us the time of parroting them over and over.
2. Rules concerning obscenity, minors, and women are in the FAQ and in the General FAQ. There are many links on the site to these pages. This is what the FAQ says:
Do not use foul language. This site is intended for all audiences. Repeated offenses may subject the poster to be banned from the board. Disguising foul language is considered to be worse than simply using foul language because the language is still apparent and there's additionally an intent to deceive.
Ladies are welcome here. However, the conversation must stay on topic. Illustrating hair styles with female pictures is fine, for example, if the attached message refers to some aspect of hair style on men. However, if a male picture that illustrates the point just as well is also available, please use it instead.
This board is not a matchmaking center. No personal ads. The philosophy here is that if you want someone to contact you, include your e-mail address on appropriate posts. If anyone is interested in you, they may contact you directly.
3. And on those topics from the General FAQ:
8. May I post photos of minors?
Photos of minors are only permitted if the minor is suitably clothed and the photo is in no way suggestive. Photos of minors are further limited to those of members of your immediate household, of public figures such as celebrities, or of yourself. If you are at or near minor age, you may also include friends near your own age in photos that also contain yourself, if you are sure your friend would approve. However, if you are not a regular user, someone we have come to know, the only photos of minors you may post are photos of yourself. (This policy does not limit use of photos where minors are far in the background and their appearance is clearly happenstance.)
16. What subjects are considered "on topic"?
The purpose of the board is to support men in growing and keeping long hair, and posts in line with that purpose are on topic. We also consider posts about subjects which are part of longhair culture to be on topic.
17. Are women and transgenders welcome?
Our site is intended for men who want to look like men and consider long hair to be part of that look. Unlike with women and transgenders, having long hair puts a man in a small minority, and our site's purpose is to support that minority. Women and transgenders are welcome if their purpose is to support men who have long hair. There is infinite room on the Internet, and others are free to set up their own sites or visit existing sites if our site's focus does not meet their needs.
19. Are posts on "off topic" subjects permitted?
Only from regular users. Such posts help us get to know each other better, so they serve a positive purpose in building our community. Off-topic posts from little-known people will be seen by users as spam posts so they are not allowed. Also, off topic threads may be removed if they overwhelm the general purpose of the board. Most threads at any given time must be on topic.
20. Are personal ads permitted?
No. Also prohibited are replies to non-personal-ad posts that respond to them pretending they were personal ads. If you are male and interested in meeting longhairs, we suggest you visit gaylonghair.com. If you are female we presently have no recommendation. Sites serving your interest seem to frequently come and go, and we know of no major site at the moment for women seeking longhaired men.
Now to your post:
Why not just write the moderators yourself? That is the way to get an official response. Some of the moderators will ignore complaints posted to the board because posting them there is against the rules.
The site's target audience is men age 13 and up. Every web page on our site other than the individual messages has a link to "About Us", which is where just about every web site on the planet gives the answer to such questions.
Age is relevant because the law is picky about that. We are not running a personal ads or dating site, so we have chosen to allow photos of minors as stated in the rules.
The rules, quoted above, say, "Photos of minors are only permitted if the minor is suitably clothed and the photo is in no way suggestive." If a post is "slightly sexy" that exceeds the standard of "is in no way suggestive", so you admit your post violates the rules. So that our board remains suitable for part of our target audience, we have chosen to limit photos of minors as stated in our rules.
Your opinion as one person is irrelevant in interpreting rules, where our standards are what the moderators believe an average reasonable person would think in applying the rules as written. When the rules say "is in no way suggestive", if any reasonable person would find posted material to be such, then posting it is against the rules.
The site clearly states that its primary audience is men who have long hair or are growing it out, age 13 and up. Others are welcome to post in a supportive role.
The rules say they are, but the focus of their posting is to be supportive of men with long hair or growing it out. Photos of women are discouraged to illustrate a hair style where a male illustrating the style can be readily found. Note also that personal ads are prohibited from either sex. Posts that beg for contact explicitly or impliedly are deemed to be personal ads whether the posting party thinks they are or not.
No, but if you are both female and a minor, you will be subject to the rules that apply to both.
All those rules are there to protect our target user base, by the way. Suggestive posts of minors can affect our reputation and that would make the site less useful to our target user base. If we were to get a reputation as a site that allows suggestive posts of minors, youth and others will soon find us locked out of places with filtering. We are a support site, not a personal ad site, and support needs of our users win out when conflicts might arise.
Also, our users do not come here to be solicited for personal ads, and it degrades the quality of the site to have such material shown. Keep in mind that this is a support site for men, and when it comes to adult men, society gives them more leeway than underage men, but the site must definitely remain suitable for all in our user base. For an adult woman to post suggestive material may be supportive of her, but that is not the mission of this site. It is a site to support men.
If you do not like our rules, you have two choices: (1) Visit another site that has rules you like, or (2) Establish a site yourself and you can then make its rules. There is infinite room on the Internet, so have at it!
