Been lurking around here a little while... I've wanted to grow long hair for as long as I can remember, but faced opposition from extremely conservative Christians surrounding my during my upbringing. Now that I'm 19 and in college, I've finally decided that it's time. I didn't actually start growing it until my Christmas break...
Looks alright to me bro. Looks to me like a good start. It looks kinda curly/wavy. But don't worry the more you grow it will straighen out a little bit due to the gaining weight of the hair as you let it grow. Other than that i would say a great start to it and that its your first time trying to grow it out, right?
Keep it up the way it is already, take care now

You are off and running very well and I am so glad that the "conservative do-gooders" have been left behind so that you can express yourself the way you want to with your hair.
Welcome to the Hyperboard! :-)
I love that term "conservative do-gooders" haha

Oh dear lol!
For those that want to have hair long, you have to start at some point. Six months is still in the early stages of hair growth. Just don't listen to those that are against men with long hair. Only you have the right of how you want your hair to be. Your hair is curly and it will add to the bulk when your hair is long enough.
By the way, welcome to the board, and I hope you will stick around, and post further updates.

...Fabulous waves.
Good Luck!
Looks super so far. Your hair will look absolutely nice with added length. Keep it growing, go for it.

Welcome to the board man.
If you have never grown it out (sounds like this is the case(. You go through the "awkward stage". You will get discouraged and some people will tell you your hair look like hell. That's what we are here for. Your hair looks healthy and you have a good start. The first thing I thought of when I saw the pics is that it could look like Jimmy Pages hair when he was young. I always was inspired by his. I never had the curls though.
I say dont worry a bit about what those conservative christians have to say, I have alot of them in my family namely all my in laws, their always telling others how they should live their lives and critisizing others. Its like when the found God they suddenly became better than everyone else yet they have the same problems as any other person would, whether its teenage pregnanacy, drugs, divorce. Im not saying their all like that but I say were all human deal with it. Your nineteen and an adult you can make your own decision what to do its your life you owe it to yourself youve got awesome shiny curly hair that will look tremendous when long, I wish I had some of your curls, keep it growin dude!
I, too, have had a long-burning desire to grow out my Manlocks, but had not actually done so until about twenty-six months ago, when I stopped cutting my hair. My hair is also curly and it takes longer for it to look long, especially when dry. Just keep it well-conditioned and only comb it when wet. Nature will do the rest. You can use some products to help keep it in check - even a simple. strong-holding gel will keep it from turning into a total frizz-ball - or you can offer some extra, post-shower application of conditioner to add a bit of weight to keep it down while providing the moisture that curly hair needs.
Congratulations on your beginning to leave the confines of expectation and to journey towards a goal of your own choosing.
Welcome aboard!

Hi, son of the house of Atreus,
Glad to see your growth so far. Curly hair is awesome when grown long. I hope you reach your goals, and good luck in college. Mr. Crow's advice is very good too. "Crow knows curly hair."

You have a hands-down AWESOME head of curly hair there, Mr. Atreides, --- and, if it's one thing that makes me jealous, it's red hair & curls!!!!
I grew up in a conservative environment, too; but, in my case, it was my dad who was an ex-Navy guy that wouldn't allow myself or my brothers to have any length to our hair while living under his roof. Interestingly, the church I grew up in actually had a few longhairs in it (and this was during the tumultuous 1960s nad early '70s - lol)!! But, for me, I wasn't able to grow my own mane out (even a tiny bit longer) until after I left my father's housee at age 18. I didn't have the guts, though, to grow it out anything beyond, "long-ISH" until I was in my late 30s, --- my first full ponytail happening on my 40th birthday!
DON'T wait until you're 40, like I did, to grow your hair out, dude: grow it out NOW, while you're young!! And also, once you've grown it out.... don't make the same mistake like I did in Y2K, by cutting it short again, thinking long hair was only a "phase", --- if you like it long, KEEP it long!!! I learned the hard way that I always should have been a longhair, --- and sometimes that means having to stand up for the right to be who you really want to be, and to not listen to those who will try to suppress you.
WELCOME to MLHH!!!

Hi Atreides,
I would like to welcome you to the hyperboard, and I am very happy that you have decided to "de-lurk", and share with us these photos of your hair. Your curls are awesome, so thick and healthy, and by all means, keep them growing! Don't let anything get in the way of your journey to long hair.
Welcome aboard!

Do you follow any of the Christian Rock groups? Quite a number of longhairs amongst them. Of course, those who rock for Jesus always did sport the hairstyles of the times. Currently longhair is in, and I have noticed quite a number of new artists like Leeland Moring with long hair. Then again, some of those uptight conservative Christians think any rock is the devil's music, you can't 'Christianize' it. Larry Norman, considered the father of the modern Christian rock movement, was a lifelong longhair.
Well it's definitely very curly and will look amazing when it's grown out and long so keep at it.
