Hey Its been a year almost since I was posting regularly on this bored. A lot has happened, but basically I am a software consultant and I live near Philadelphia now. I have had some cuts to make my hair more presentable in the growing out stage since I have curly hair and I had to interview alot. I don't know my parents want me to cut my hair, I have dated guys that want me to cut my hair and I have that whole "professional look" idea hanging over my head. Ive dated two guys with long hair and I was kinda jealous of both lol. Honestly, I want to grow my hair out but I have like a high "full" hairline. My hair has that thinner "baby hair" crap at front of my hairline. I thought it was receding but after looking at teenage and kid pics, I noticed its always been like that. I just always kept it short. Anyways, my hair is like 6"+ longer in the front, the sides were cut down to about an inch a couple months ago. So, Im debating if I wanna grow those out too or just cut it all off since I have to use so much hair products to make it "look short". IDK give me some feedback..fenixcsmar@gmail.com
Ps I just woke up when I took these pics so I know i look horrible..lol
Hi Monroe,
Well, this is a LONG hair board, --- a very unique place on the internet, where the main purpose of being here is to encourage other men to both GROW and KEEP their hair long... The vast majority of Western society, on the other hand, tends to always favor the same old stupid-looking short hairstyles for males. Here, though, I doubt you'll get any such typical, "Fashion Police" comments, --- including from myself!
My answer: Just grow it! Stay away from scissors!! Ignore the boring (big YAWWWWN) short-haired trend: be different!!! If you enjoy your hair being a bit longer, for whatever the reason you first felt inclined to let it grow in the first place, why are you even contemplating for one micro-second that you have to listen to that same old broken record that the Fashion Police sends over and over and over the air waves of collective male hairstyle consciousness? Take that scratchy repetative old record forever out of your mental sound system, break it in half, and toss it in the garbage where it belongs... UNLESS you have come to your *own* conclusion that maybe long hair isn't really for you afterall... If that is the case, then that's a different story.
My best to you, whatever you decide!
- Ken in San Francisco
Did I start a trend on this board? Ever since my own "To cut or not to cut for my career" thread, more members have also expressed my same dilemma LOL.
But to get serious, I agree totally with Ken. This being the Men's Long Hair Hyperboard, you really won't get any encouragements to have your mane be cut into a short conservative male style. It is of course your ultimate decision about how you want to live you life and wear your hair, but if you do decide to grow it longer we of course would applaud your decision to do so. And I've since learned after coming to this board and taking in the kind advice of the mlhh family that you really want to be with or in the company of the people that do in fact love you for YOU. Your hair is a very big part of YOU, so instead of seeking validation from a partner who otherwise wouldn't want to be with you, you should give yourself that very self-worthiness that you expect your partner to give you. You know what is the one trait that both genders find sexy? Its confidence. Someone who is confident about who he or she is will definitely not end up lonely and ignored.
Hey guys thanx for the support. You are right, I guess that only thing I am worried about is if longhair would look good on me at with my high hairline. Two more years of growing for it to look bad is a concern. Sigh.IDK
Good. :-)
All the cuts did is lead you nowhere.
No reason to be jealous, the solution for yourself is to avoid "presentable trims."
Honestly, you should state your business.
Have your "debate" and come to your own conclusion.
Untrue. You should see me after i just woke up. Nobody could beat that..lol
If you want your hair long then grow it long. Baby fine hairs? High hairline? nobodys perfect most of us would like some kind of improvement but we learn to live with and like what we have.
