i did it. it was cut. and i am soooooo much happier with it now.
thanks to everyone who took the time to comment - i know i don't come around much anymore.
to aze - that is my natural texture. i have never straightened my hair in my life. nor do i use hairdryers or curling irons. it also has never been colored.
to those who wondered why i cut it - it was getting really obnoxious. i couldn't stand having it get caught in the waitline of my clothes anymore. or getting caught in my elbow when i would bend my arm and being yanked. and it was too heavy too put up out of my face anymore. putting it in pigtails or in a bun just gave me headaches, but having it down all the time is too hot in the desert.
i know a lot of you love having super long hair, and kudos to you for having the patience. i actually wanted to see what my terminal length was, but i just didn't have the patience to see it through.
a nine inch cut isn't that big of a deal to me. i actually do it about every nine months or so. my hair has an abnormally high rate of growth (about an inch a month), so it's back to super long in no time. as you can see, it's still plenty long.
hope no one is too mad at me! i promise it will be growing for at least another nine months. :)
much love to everyone!

p.s. the salon did donate my cut hair, but i made sure it wasn't going to the dodgy LOL.
Nicole, if you decided to get a pixie cut, you would still be a lovely woman. Your hair should make you happy first and foremost. For some it might mean a short, sophisticated kind of designer cut and for others like yours truly it means seeing my hair reach terminal length at least once in my life. You hair looked beautiful before and it looks beautiful now as well.
thank you for the nice words! i find it hard to believe that you have a hard time getting work as a stylist. i would much rather have a person doing my hair who obviouly knows what it taked to care for long, healthy hair than a dyed and frazzled short-haired person any day. good luck to you in fulfilling your dream! :)

Nicole, in a past lifetime I must have done a very good deed because right now at this very moment, your compliment just validated everything I knew to be true about my mane. My hair truly is beautiful isn't it? If you ask me I think some of my detractors are actually jealous that I had the courage and dedication to grow my hair this long and keep it in such excellent condition. And I too would love to see more long-mane stylists as well instead of the stereotypical stylist who has a choppy layered haircut with a million highlighted streaks in her hair.
Wow, it looks VERY nice!!! IT's also still quite long and very shiny/pretty. As you said, as long as it's longer than the beau's ; )
Thanks for sharing,
-Phil
thanks, phil! i appreciate the kind words. i think my beau would've broken up with me if i'd gone much shorter. ;)

Hi Nic,
Your trim went very well, and your hair is so shiny and healthy! The important thing is that YOU are happy!
Take care,
David
It's still really long :)
Looks great, nic. It's still longer than a lot of women wear their hair nowadays (crying shame, if you ask me).
The trim went very well.
Joshua
As long as your happy with it and it does suit you, it's still very long.
Hope all is well with you and have a great time at Disney.
Kevin
Now THAT is a trim! :-)
I know some of the guys get a little 'wrapped around the axle' when it comes to trims, but what's really important is that you like it. Looks great!!!
Jim
Nic, your hair is still long by any measurements and it looks fantastic AND you're happy! What could be better?
Bruce
Still looks great. Still would make a killer set of pigtails. One of these days I'll win the pigtail war...but most likely actually not...yeah your hair still totally wins by a long shot.
