Recently our moderator David N has retired from his job of almost 30 years. Last Friday June 27th was his last day on the job. I want to congratulate David on a successful carrer and wish him an enjoyable retirement. No doubt David you'll be busier now than when you worked.
Lets give him a big round of applause.
Three cheers to David
Kevin

Hi George,
I see you noticed it too, and I am looking forward to meeting you, and experiencing your sense of humour firsthand!

wheeee........
I saw that just after I hit the "send" key...
....actually it was 48 straight hours of work and lots of caffeine, and still learning to type on a laptop.
......yeah, I know I said I was retired too.....but, got sucked into the consulting circuit...
Hi Walter,
Thank you, and I DO believe that George is correct, and you seems to have already taken a big swig of the bubbly!
Thanks again,
David
David is one of the most polite and courteous members here. Not that everyone else isn't, but there is something about his replies that make you feel very welcome and appreciated.
Congratulations on your retirement and I wish you all the best for the future!
Cheers,
Peter
Hi Peter,
Thank you for your kind words of congratulations, and I am very touched by your words in your post as well!
Thank you again, and take care,
David
Yes David I also wish you a wonderful and fulfilling retirement. Its got to be a great feeling knowing after putting in 30 long years at the grindstone there is light at the end of the tunnel:)Now the fun begins as it couldn't happen to a nicer guy.Oh and about the bubbly.....If you don't drink alcohol just pour it over your head in celebration so at least you can have happy hair!Hope to catch you on your trip south this fall.Take care my friend.
Mark
I know it's bad but... ;-)
Hey, David. Time to start planning your trip!
--Rick
So I'm new here and I have a question.......Will bubble wrap damage my hair??????
LOL
I know that was a bad stab as well.
Kevin
LOL!
I was thinking of trying out a Windex rinse on my non-wash days...
Better watch out. It'll turn your hair blue... ;-) Is this the 'non streak' formula??
--Rick
^Hahahahahahaha
You'll be fine once you get past the awkward stage. :-)
--Rick
LOL!! Good one Rick as I guess that does qualify as bubbly but not quite what I had in mind for David:)Oh well its always the thought that counts right?I guess we can wrap each other up at the party. Thanks for the laugh my friend:)
Mark
No problem, Mark. Hope things are well with you.
Sometimes you just have to think outside the box!
--Rick
Hi Rick,
Thank you for your kind words of congratulations, and I admit that there is a lot to look forward to!
I had to admit that I DID get a laugh out of your "bubble wrap", and for now, I will settle for a nice sparkling glass of champagne!
Take care,
David
Hi Mark,
What a wonderful post, and thank you for your kind words of congratulations, and about me as well. I agree that I have a lot to look forward to!
I DO enjoy a beer once in a while, especially after a game of golf, and I enjoy a nice red wine once in awhile as well. I am definitely looking forward to meeting you, possibly as early as this September, when I make my first road trip.
Take care,
David
One job for 30 years? Inconceivable! Congratulations on actually being in a situation that's pretty rare these days.
Hi Steve,
Thank you for your kind words of congratulations. Although I did the same work for over 30 years, the name of my employer did change about 10 years ago, but the work I did did not change. The protection of the Canadian food supply used to be the responsibilty of Health Canada, but that was changed when the CFIA (Canadian Food Inspection Agency) was formed in 1997.
Thanks again,
David
David, Hear hear! Congratulations on a job well done.
Enjoy your retirement.
peace, jonalbear
Hi Jonalbear,
Thank you for your kind words, and I have to admit that retirement sure beats working!
Take care,
David
I do not like the word "retirement"...
These are really just the First days of the Rest of Your Life!

Hi Luckskind,

Peace,
Ryan
Hi Ryan,
Thank you for all of your kind words of congratulations, and my career was a long and fulffilling one. However, after nearly 32 years, I felt it was time to trade the daily commute for a little more time on the golf course!
Take care,
David
Free at last!
Free at last!
FREE AT LAST!
Congratulations David!
Bill
(P.S., from one who has tried both, retirement sure beats workin'!)
Hi Bill,
Thank you for your kind words! I have to agree that it is a wonderful feeling to be free, and in fact, every one of the people I know who are retired certainly find it a lot better than working.
Thanks again,
David
Hi Kevin, and everyone!
Oh my goodness, Kevin! I am very touched that you started this thread, just for me! I have to admit that I am really enjoying the fact that I am free from the daily commute, staff meetings, and all that stuff, and can chase a little white golf ball instead. I also have a little travelling planned as well, both in the fall, and another trip next spring.
I will return later on today to thank all of you personally, since the golf course, plus a few errands are waiting right now!
