Hey gang,
In the spirit of summer, I'm slowly lightening my hair naturally, with a mix of water, lemon juice, and chamomile tea. I just started this evening (Wednesday) and will continue until my update, which is about 10 days from now. Some people say that lemon juice damages hair, but mixing it with the water and tea should cut down on any bad effects, as well as hopefully bring out some more copper-colored highlights.
Wish me luck! =)

Hey James, I considered doing the same thing last summer but I never got around to doing it. Apparently if one's natural hair is too dark the process could result in an overtly orange-like color, but I have no idea if that's really true or not.
It is a pretty rad idea in my book. Hopefully it turns out good :)
Hi James, I'd like to kindly suggest that if you truly want good lightening results that you just might be best suited to going to your salon of choice and getting sun-kissed highlights. Hair-lightening with bleach isn't as damaging as you would think it to be, just make sure your colorist is using 20 volume developer which is a lower level of bleach and thus is less harsh. As long as you follow up with a good conditioning routine which you should do anyway as a longhair, you can have hair that is both colored and healthy. The reason why I suggest doing this instead is that with the formula you are describing to me right there, I can assure you that it will do very little to absolutely nothing for your hair in terms of hair lightening. Lemon juice even at its purest form only has a slight lightening effect on hair that is already a level 10 platinum blonde to about a level 7 which is dirty blonde. James, if the color you have right now is any darker than a dirty blonde the formula you just described to me really won't do much to lighten your hair. And even if your hair is able to achieve lift with just the lemon juice alone, the results will almost never turn out the way you desire. IMHO, your best option really would be to get professional sun-kissed highlights.
Good luck, I'm looking forward to your update.
Hope that your hair lightening experiment goes well. By the way, have you seen a picture of my hair recently?

I am also slowly lightning my hair. I found a way that uses absolutely no chemicals at all. either natural or man made. I get old and it gets white.
LOL same here, at least for my beard.

That's a cool thing to do when you have light brown hair,as it is your case, your hair definetelly turns out lighter after sometime adding lemon juice and all these other stuff. My cousing who has blonde hair once tried putting some sort of tea in her hair in the beach, and after 1 week we could see the difference :/.Hope this process works out for you,and I'll be waiting for your next update.Peace :).
I am looking forward to see your updates. Hopefully your expectations will become true! I am sure it will look great!
Just remember: You probably will have to use the ligthening mixture for ever since your freshly grown hair will be in your natural color again... But I'm pretty sure you considered that.
Hi James, be careful to avoid damage. I have used lemon juice on my hair, but not recently, to make it more manageable. It is acidic and closes the cuticle of the hair, making it easier to comb. A 10:1 dilution is probably OK. You may want to condition it after each treatment.
