I'm interested to know if any men here use wigs to achieve their long hair look?
I bought a real hair wig which I had a stylist turn into a bob that looks grown out. I kept it for a while before I dared venture out in it - but it was no problem at all. Most people don't take any notice.
In fact - I found I got a lot more attention from women, particularly as the hair is thick and if I let it fall over one eye. Some of them can't take their eyes off me! I don't know if they don't like the hair or whether they are jealous (you can't tell it's a wig unless you look really close).
It certainly is an interesting experience being a long hair - when you change suddenly from short to long you notice the difference.
"can't take their eyes off me! I don't know if they don't like the hair or whether they are jealous (you can't tell it's a wig unless you look really close)."
Maybe they stared at you because they wondered if it was a wig.
j/k...in all respect, I am unaware of anyone on this forum who wears a wig. I think it's cheaper to grow your hair out, which is free and far more rewarding and, frankly, what this forum is about.

For me ... that would be like putting a rolled up set of socks in your pants.
Just make sure you put it in the front, and NOT in the back.
Tom you clearly must not have noticed, but here no one is wearing a wig. They are faithfully growing their own hair the old fashioned way, by simply living right and letting Mother Nature take its course. And to be quite honest, unless you're buying a really expensive made for the movie stars Hollywood kinda wig(which I and many other people can still spot) any other cheaper kind of wig will bulk up and immediately be noticeable by everyone who sees you as a wig. Unless you're balding or undergoing chemo( in which case I would empathize with you), I suggest you actually grow your own mane out(just wait two years and you should definitely be a longhair by then!).
Wow a stock pic!
Yeah, we've sure see a whole lot of that photo. I think it's permanently burned into my brain.
But seriously he did have a point and suprisingly I agree with him for once.
Please B Careful Jason. Use much caution. Last night it burned my brains out! (Just want to make sure the same doesn't happen to you.) But where R my brains currently? Perhaps to B found in my special "play-time" Sandbox! :-)
I agre with you, Jason, we DO seem to be seeing a LOT of that photo lately!

Wonder if there are stocks for sale to this stock cardboard photo? Under copyright, copywrong, underdone or overdone?
Dude give it a rest.... You don't really need to include a pic of your hair every time you post. Most of us have very longhair and don't post a pic of it with every reply.
Just come kind advice
Kevin
Eric, I apologise for everyone who has been getting on your case about your picture. You shouldn't really post it every time, though.
That's alright electros. I got post pic happy I suppose. Thanks for sticking up for me there though!
I was staying after at high school a few years ago to work on a production for our stage company, and I found some wigs in the costume room. I promptly put one on (or maybe it was a battered old raccoon, it was difficult to tell) and ran screaming down the hallway into the men's restroom.
I discovered three doughy-eyed, confused and terrified lads doing something very peculiar in the bathroom, and my unusual appearance only served to increase the absurdity of the situation.
I have never worn a wig since.
Peace,
Ryan
Boy, can you ever say that again. Look what happened to me over-night. How can I be restored? Somethings wrong. Help!
The longhair experience goes far beyond what you have described.
People post pics of their hair extensions ecery once in a while and they users have a friendly go at them.
Being a longhair includes among many things the growing of it and the awkward stage which not everybody gets through some just can't stand it and give up. The there's the comments and family to deal with as some have people around them that think poorly of us longhairs. Then there's Job descrimination and the fear of "will I ever find a job".
I could write volumes most of which have already been writen and posted here on the board. So all you've done is go amuse yourself for a day and that's fine we all amuse ourselves in various ways.
as for the true experience that has to be lived to be appreciated.
As for the women who couldn't take their eyes off you, they were probably wondering why you were wearing a whig.
Take care
Kevin
I prefer to naturally have long hair. Wearing a wig is simply not natural. I say wearing a wig is faking long hair and I rather not fake it.
I would only invest in a wig if I develop a bald patch in my head later in life (which I do not want it to happen to me), and cannot get a hair transplant.
Regardless

I find it interesting that people on a board that frequently addresses the problem of prejudice about hair are showing prejudice themselves. Certainly there's nothing like having great long hair growing from your scalp, but I see nothing wrong with someone wearing a wig or extensions or whatever they want. After all, hair is really just dead cells. The length you wear is mostly about how it looks and feels. I doubt if Tom wears it ever day, but if his hair isn't long now, who's to berate him for toying with a long hair look. Even if those ladies are wondering if you're wearing a wig, I suspect the mystery adds a distinct bit of intrigue some find appealing.
Due to the fact that this is a board for supporting growing hair not buying it. If he wants to wear it fine, that's his choice. But he needs to find a wig board for support.
Then change the name of the board to men growing long hair. Watching this board for years it's funny how the attitude changes, from everyone is welcome to only people just like "me" are welcome. so many come and go, the attitude will shift again.the main posters/posers are in a click mode right now. As time passes so does this attitude ,,I've sen it before. Just like bashing the guy who post's his pic every time,,then bashing him for that. You all love posting your pictures. The fact that many are rude shows its not the hair,,,,,its the person.
Peace starts with me
Paul
Our hair's all real.
Also, I think it's nearly always possible to recognise a wig. For one thing, the hair line at the front is lower than natural, and if it wasn't I don't think it would stay on. I think actors overcome this with makeup, which may work on the screen, but wouldn't if you were face to face.
I think I can always spot when someone is wearing a 'rug' to cover up baldness. Very often you can see some of their real hair and the colour doesn't natch.
With long hair wigs they often have a fringe (bangs) to cover the hairline, but unfortunately bangs seem to be out of fashion for men. OTOH, my son has bangs, so I may be wrong.
