Hey guys and girls!
This year has been an odd one for me. In April I was assualted and I've been having difficulty with post traumatic stress. I'm picking myself up slowly and picking up scraps of confidence from here and there. The main thing is that I'm ok and I'm looking to the future, my home study degree in computing and its practise is rolling nicely and I am designing/building/repairing pc's for a little spare money : )
Sad stuff over - I hope you are all well. And I'm looking forward to chatting to you guys again.
I am sorry for my absence.
Take care guys.
Neil
Hi Neil,
I am genuinely sorry to hear this dreadful news that you are the victim of assault. It really worries me what the world is coming to these days, with increased violence everywhere.
Of course I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers, and of course I am relieved that things are getting better for you every day.
Thank you for stopping on by, and take care,
David
Thanks for your kind word here, David, --- and I also wanted to congratulate you on your retirement that was announced in a post below... Hope you have a great many years of good health and great travels!!
Sincerely,
Ken
I want to second Ken on this. Thank you David and I wish you well in your retirement. Freedom at last eh?! : D
Neil
Hi Neil,
Thank you for your kind words of congratulations, and I guess I can call it "freedom 55"! (although my 55th birthday is not for another month)
Take care,
David
Hi Ken,
I am delighted to see you posting today, and thnk you for your very kind words of congratulations! I admit that I am quite happy these days, with a lot to look forward to!
Take care,
David
Hi Neil,
I am so sorry to hear about your tramatic ordeal. Things like that are not easy to overcome the memory of, and then try to return to "normalcy". As a young teen I was once assaulted by a bunch of older teens while on a Boy Scout camping trip. It was terrifying at the time, --- I tried to run; but, they caught up w/ me... not worth going into the gory details beyond that, ---- other than I can only imagine it might be even more difficult to experience such a thing later as an adult.
You most certainly have my full symathy, prayers, and support for a full recovery. Just reassure yourself that whoever did this to you was horribly in the wrong, --- and, thank goodness, evil people like this are few (but not few ENOUGH)!!
Desperaste people do desparate things. Just yesterday I heard about a 17 year old girl in Florida who robbed a 9 year old Girl Scout, --- and even more sadly, didn't feel an ounce of guilt about it when she was caught. I can't remember the rest of the details (other than it was a fair amount of $$, and that she traumatized the little girl)...
Glad to hear from you, and my best to you at your continued recovery!
- Ken in San Francisco
Hi Neil,
It's good to see you posting again mate. I'm very sorry to hear about your situation and I know it takes time and after an experience I had a few years ago. It's very positive news that your confidence is picking up with things after such an aweful event.
Cheers,
John.B

Hope you will be posting here more soon.
Hi Neil, Glad to hear from you and am distressed to hear about the attack. Your working on moving on and rebuilding your confidence which is good and goes to show your stronger than you think.
Keep your head up and don't look back.

Kevin
Welcome back Neil. I am fairly new to the board, and I had been posting for over two months now. I hope to get a lot of postings from you on the board. By the way, my 19th month update on hair growth is coming mid-July.
Regardless
My MySpace - feel free to add me as a friend
Oh yeah, and you will recover from the assualt. Just steer clear of such people in the future. Yes, assualt is illegal, and I believe they will be caught eventually.

Hey man
really sorry to hear about the assualt, but these things happen...hey, it even happened to me about 5 months ago, but iv pulled together and thought about the future, and what it has in stall for me. Good luck with the degree man, it will pay off!
ps. keep on growing!
Neil, So sorry to hear of your assault. Hope you are on the mend and will be stopping by the board more often in the future.
Have always enjoyed your posts and updates.

Neil,
you have my deepest sympathies after experiencing what you've been through. Being physically assaulted is a degrading experience, and I suspect (not to put you down for it certainly!) that part of the reason you were targeted was because you are a longhair. I have gotten hateful looks and stares from either random people I see on the street and unfortunately also some people I see and know and I can clearly tell when people are whispering and talking negatively about me. That alone has made my blood boil and makes me want to lash out and start a fight with some of those people. You will feel the whole range of emotions in the coming days and perhaps weeks ahead from overwhelming rage and wanting to get back at them, to a paranoid kind of fear of it happening again and avoiding places that happen to be near the scene of the attack, to just a dark feeling of sadness and hopelessness because you were unable to triumph over your attackers. The most important thing right now is that you survived the attack, which is more that can be said for the countless 11 PM news stories you see where someone got shot/mugged/raped and stabbed. Be thankful you survived the attack and if it helps, perhaps you might want to take a martial arts class!
Hey Neil,
I have to admit that I can't even imagine what you must be going through after what you described has happened to you.I'll never understand why someone would assault someone like yourself who would be minding their own business and not bothering anyone just for the heck of it.Some people just don't deserve to be walking among us peaceful folks. All I wish for is that you can recover as best as possible from this experience and be able to put it behind you.As hard as it must have been to tell us here about it just remember that you have friends here who care about you on the mlhh. Thanks for your post and get well my friend:)

Hi Neil
This is shocking news for sure and I am so sorry that this nightmare happened to you. And of the trauma, just horrible.
You have my deepest sympathy for the ordeal you have been through. Time has a way of healing so much. But still, you hardly deserved this............nobody would.
Take care Neil and I wish you nothing but the best in a complete recovery............and of a recovery just as soon as possible.
With all good wishes-
Justin~
Hope all is back to normal soon. Peace
