Hello everyone ive been having some problems lately with my hair being very dry to the point where i don't know what to do. Not only does it feel like its dry but it looks like its lacking moisture. Its just been bugging me lately even though how much conditioner i use it still turns out really dry. maybe the summer has something to do with it. i dont know what to do anymore about it. does anybody have any tips that i could use to treat it?
thanks
Jøe
Hi Joe. I have tried a myriad of treatments that help to seriously moisturize your hair, and I found that the three best treatments that were guarantees for me are applying either mayonnaise, olive oil or coconut oil to your hair and leaving it in overnight. Wrap your hair in a towel or make sure your pillow is double covered so that the oil doesn't rub off on it. When you wake up, wash your hair with one shampoo only. Try to avoid a second shampoo because you could end up washing all the oil you just applied to your hair. If you ask me personally, coconut oil really works the best.
A little trick that works for me and I found out by accident. Get a cheap humidifier and run the room at about 50% humidity. Works good for me.
Hi Joe,
Your story sounds familiar... in fact, it sounds just like mine (lol)!!
If you apply a small amount of one of the beneficial oils into the ends of your hair only (emphasis: a VERY small amount, --- as in approximately the size of a small coin in the palm of your hand, maximum), massaging and/or combing or brushing it into the lower third of your mane, you will be adding moisture to where it is most needed.
Pure Jojoba oil, Kukui nut oil, Almond oil, or even Olive oil all work. You can add it either when your hair is still damp; or, you can add it when your hair is dry (my preference is when damp, though)...
There are other products that help similarly. I have a coconut oil-based hair butter that I bought a few years ago that I use every once in awhile. Also, leave-in hair conditioners help. If a product from one company doesn't work well enough for you, then just switch to another. I tend to prefer the "all-natural" organic-type products that you find in places like Health Food stores as much as possible. They're usually a little more expensive; but, I tend to be happier with the results, so worth it!
Happy product hunting!!

Hi Jøe,
Sorry to hear about you dry hair problems as I too experience that at different times of the year.Its weird as when the seasons change here in the east my hair is definately affected by it.However I totally agree with what Ken(Urban Cowboy) suggested as thats what I do to combat the problem.If my hair is really dried out using jojoba oil is the first thing I do and I may even add some leave in conditioner as well.Really though you'll have to experiment to see what works best with your hair.Anyway hope you weekend has been great so far and good luck with your hair treatment.Please do let me know how you make out.Take care my friend.

Jøe;
Just to reinforce Ken's suggestions. I live in the desert and spend a considerable amount of time in extreme dry heat with wind...my hair is thin and dry by nature anyway. What works for me is deep conditioning with olive oil whenever I shampoo and use (yes, a very little) jojoba oil (which is actually a wax, which coats the hair more with the heat of the day).
Good Luck

As for me, I rarely have a problem with dry hairs. This has to do with the cool, moist climate of Seattle. Right now, as I was typing this, it was drizzling outside. Maybe you should frequently condition your hair, and leave it in for a minute at a time. But I agree with what the others said on this post.
Regardless
