Throught having long hair several people have attacked my hair over the years. My hair currently sits at my hips approx 27 inches from top of my head to the end of the hair at my back.
While walking down the street I was attacked from behind by a raving lunatick that cut a large chunk out of my hair, sence then it has grown back.
A woman on a buss tried to tie my hair into a knot.
An older child has riped my hair out. Again it has grown back.
I was ganged and had my head shaved.
A barber gave me a military hair cut. When I asked for a trim.
I have had at least 3 hair stylists butcher my hair or cut my hair nearly gone.
To name a few.
Why do people wish to harm my hair?

just wondering, where do you live, (approximately) and do you have anything that would make your hair stand out differently than other long hair? (different hair type, other features, clothes, etc.) just brainstorming here.

My mother has always incuraged long hair. Therefore I have had long hair sence I was 5 years old. Grooming is a quality that was instilled into us at a very young age. So the attacks that I list may be far out as to some, though you must know that for 20 years of having long hair those attacts are spread out and not so close togeather.
As far as my hair to be standing out it is a shiny Chocolate brown.. I would stand out currently mostly for my clothing. In my free time I am a Romantic style gothic. Though as in Utah I find mostly that people do not cause me harm. Many think that I am Homosexual, but they do not cause me harm.

Never did. The guy is a fraud.
I was about 13-14 It was several young boys my age in school. I think I was living in Macallen TX at the time. It was not so much shave as they were to cut out big chunks of my hair. This made me very mad. My mother had to shave off the rest of hair to make it ok. I got into fight the next day and was suspended for fighting one of the boys that attacked me.

Obviously I think they're jealous; maybe not of your hair in particular; but because of the philosophy of having the discipline and strength in growing your hair out to that length; and not hiding it. A lot of people are weak; and I'm sure in some way seeing your time and work cascading freely down your back, would set off a lot of people who don't have the ability to make that type of commitment to the other things in there life. If they didn't feel like you were above them, (better than them in some way) they wouldn't have the urge to knock you down. By taking away your intimidating beneficial qualitie(s) you appear less threatening and therefore making it appear easier to see eye to eye with you. But that's not your fault; it's they who have the insecurity problem within themselves, not you because you wear your hair long. You're the strong person. Besides, if they can't see eye to eye with you without taking away your good qualities, (or any of them for that matter); they can't appreciate you as you are, and are too self absorbed to enjoy you anyway, otherwise. It's best that you know these people upfront anyway lol; so if they attack you at least you know there true intentions. Count it as a blessing that they show themselves so readily to you; you don't have to worry about figuring it out later. ;)
P.S. You should be proud of your hair and the time and investment you gave to have it. That's what counts, don't let anyone destroy that for you (hair aside, and included) ;)
That is honestly some of the most disturbing stuff Ive ever read. People are scared of stuff that they dont see as normal. Everyone likes to think that they are individual however; meaning that they try to blend in and be unique at the same time. Some people can, most cant. Those that cant are resentful of people who are confident enough (i.e us of the long haired type) to have our own image because we represent the side of them that they want to let out, but are too scared to and have to conform to feel accepted and good about themselves.

I don't know about the rest of you reading this post...but I am doubting the truth of it....yes, perhaps Amadeo has had some unpleasant experiences with the perception of his hair by others...but these "stories" seem outrageous. I have a had a few comments about my longhair but nothing serious...perhaps I am just lucky...most of my friends and acquaintances accept me for who I am and the rest have just kept their thoughts to themselves....I do like the occasional "great hair" comment. So, if anyone else thinks this post by Amadeo is excessive, let me know.
that is why i inquired about where he is from. it does seem excessive, but some parts of the globe i hear can be pretty vicious towards men with long hair, and they have supposedly even been killed. this is only what i heard from some other website, so it may not be true, but i believe that some areas may be quite different from others.

I have lived in many parts of the world. Currently in a most cowboy populated area in america. I have had a very little problem in America, though I have found that I tire of the comments that I may be homosexual because I am a small slender man with very long hair.

Nothing serious has happened but hair attack is not uncommon. I sive you my sympathy and hope it gets better as I get out of the awckward stage, however it will be jelaous attacks by then.

Even if ONE of those things had happened to you, it would be outrageous enough to begin with.
And to begin with, you'd have to be MAJORLY unlucky to have even one of those things occur.

Why? Because you didnt KICK THEIR ASS!! If you give them an inch (of your hair) they will take all of it. Most people know not to f*%k with the long hairs because usually even their girlfriends can stomp back.
Remember friends: once their down, they are off limits ... dont go to jail.
