my hair has always beeb left alone , to grow as long as it could. but it seems to never get longer than about shoulder length. now im sixty, and i guess i should be happy with that(i like it long)bu does anyone have any idea why it basicly has stayed shoulder length all my life? and im not gonna cut it. i like it, thanks, mike
Hi Mike,
Hopefully, I can answer your questions, and it seems that you have a good head of hair! The length that you can grow your hair is defined as your "terminal length", and is really a roll of the genetic dice. Some lucky guys, (Absalom, EdG, and Trolleypup) are blessed with extremely long terminal lengths. Other guys are not so lucky, and are restricted to shoulder length or a bit longer. It is all a matter of growth rate (inches per month), and lifetime of the individual strands that determine the length that individual strands will grow. These two things work together.
Hope this helps,
David

Hi Mike
As one getting closer and closer to your own age I would just be happy that I had any hair at all. Probaly the reason yours won't grow longer is all due to genetics and you are at terminal length. (I say this assuming you don't go for regular even-out hair cuts ot trims and just allow your hair to grow.)
Still, great for a guy you age. :-)

As Justin said your most likely at terminal length and for some people that can be shoulder length. Check out our links section Bills "On being a longhair" has a good explanation on this.
