A quick way of drying my hair is to let it air-dry for about an hour until it is partially wet. After that I shake my head (aswell as doing the most ridiculous headbanging ever!) for a little while so that my hair dries quickly.
Is this a bad method? My sister says this is worse than blow-drying, but is that true? I like doing this because it takes about 4 hours to fully air-dry regulary which I feel is too long, and by shaking the water out, my hair is much less poofy than usual.
BTW, my hair is above shoulder length right now as a result of a trim. It used to be shoulder length (17 months) and my bangs reached below my chin, but I cut it for the summer to my current length (Which I am not happy nor confident with. I liked it longer).
Thanks.
Hi Mark,
I used to headbang to get most of the water out of my hair too. I have since stopped this and instead I squeeze out excess water and blot my hair gently with a towel. I wrap a towel around my head after my shower for 10-15 minutes and then let it air dry. It takes 30-40 minutes to get mostly dry (not 100% but very close).
Cheers,
Peter
Lots of dogs will swear by that method!

I used to use the bath towel as a turban, but that got awfully clumsy, and heavy. I found something like the Turbie Twist (link below), and love it. I gently wring my hair when I get out of the shower, then put on the Turbie-jobby while I get dressed and piffle around online. Generally half an hour will do it, and it's dry enough detangle and style.
Headbanging won't hurt your hair, unless you put weights on the ends, in which case, you'd probably do damage to the furniture and your body, as well.

I can't see that it would be bad for your hair but it sure can be tough on your brain!
I too just wrap a towel around my head for a few minutes then gently squeeze in the towel. Then on to air drying.

I do the same thing as well, also did it the first time I grew my hair out in high school. Didnt seem to do any damage then or now.
