I know a big question for me when I started to grow my hair out was if hair would hinder my outside activites at all. For me they havent, I just had to change how I prepare myself before I start them....such as tying my hair back, making sure I have both a bandana and an extra hair band incase one breaks.
So here are a few pictures of me doing various activites, but mostly centered around biking....

Hi Clayton,
Great set of pictures there and having longhair should not stop yo doing activirty that's for sure. The hair is looking in great condition and natrual colour. I'm sure I'll get to don't an "nth" update at sometime during this summer. It's great to see you enjoy your outdoor cycling activities and you should be over in Europe taking part in the old "Tour da France" and that must be a ride and a half.
Good to hear from you and keep it growing.
Cheers,
John.B
Looking good, Clayton. Did you do your own braids? I tried a single braid once... total disaster... :-) Gotta practice more.
Hope the trumpet playing's doing great!
Off to a gig tonight,

Cool post Clayton, dispells the myth that you can't be in sports or be physically active in other areas if you have long hair as it would get in the way. You just adapt and carry on.
Great example for everybody.

Hi Clayton,
Hey thats cool that you are into biking as I just did a round of that today. Its been so long since I took a serious ride and since I had the week off I finally got one in.Even though I do have a road bike I mostly ride my mountain bike.
I too have devised a way to keep my hair tamed for riding and other activities where loose hair would be a problem.Typically I tail it then pull the tail over the top of my head so I can put on a baseball cap and the job is done. However I'm sure every longhair has their own method to accomplish the same task.I thought that older pic of you with the braids looked really cool.Anyway great pics and thanks for posting them.Keep up the riding my friend:)

Great pic's. I agree. Planning and knowledge of what you need is the key to a wonderful outdoor experience.
Keep it growing.
Very cool Clayton! One question that popps into my mind when people ask "doesn't long hair get in the way or isn't unbearable in the summer?" Well there are plenty of longhaired female athletes who can manage quite well, so what makes it harder for a man?!
Keep on growin'
Bruce
Hi Clayton, I ride a bike too. I found multiple ties to work best for me. I use 11 of them at about 4" intervals. You can see them in my avatar photo. This prevents tangling despite having hair over 3 feet long.Scott

Excellent post !
I have often thought of starting a photo thread of "hair in the real world". ("Fire" did a post like this not so long ago wearing firefighting gear) Let face it, most of us have work and/or hobbies that are not exactly longhair friendly, so we tail it, braid it or stuff it under a hat; and go on with our day.
Thanks for Sharing
Walter
Here's the only recent pic of me that shows some hair and is somewhat cycling-related. It was taken a couple of weeks ago by a co-operative waitress at an ice-cream stop at about 50 miles into a solo metric century (100 kms or 62.137 miles).
Anyway, I wear a cycling skullcap or bandana under my helmet to help keep breakage, damage and tangles down to a dull roar. Along with the requisite hair tie, I do all right with the compromise between keeping it flowing behind me and wind damage.
Tailwinds to you!
