OK, not really in need of such a thing myself; but the topic came up in a discussion between myself and Rick G some time ago. We're curious to know, if those guys who are still growing it out have found clothing that makes their hair look longer. I'm sure some of the other newer members would like to know too.
Steve, Even though my medium brown hair is pretty well grown out I find light colored shirts or tops makes it appear to be longer. I suppose reds or darker colors would work better foe white or blond hair. Just my 2 cents worth!
peace, jonalbear
Short tshirts (as in ones that only go down to around your waist) or no tshirts or hoodies, things that will make it look shorter are leather jackets and loose clothing especially clothing that look to big for you and things with big collars!
Well such a thing has not been necessary for me personally for quite some time as my hair is more than long enough to speak for itself. But I will tuck whatever shirts I'm wearing to literally show where my waistline is to show off the true length of my hair. I also like to wear white clothing for the same reason jonalbear stated. Also, I will style my hair pin-straight with the flat-iron to really lengthen my hair itself.
This advice isn't for new members, but it's possible to play tricks with perception through judicious choice of reference points.
For example, waist to classic length hair will seem longer if one tucks one's shirt into one's pants (instead of wearing the shirt loose). Other people will latch onto one's waist instead of the bottom of one's shirt as a reference point for hair length.
Similarly, thigh to calf length hair will seem longer when one wears shorts.
Of course, I've never felt a need to make my hair seem longer (;-)

Ed: I am wondering if you would post an uptodate photo of your hair...and do you think you have reached "terminal" length?
Yes, I've reached terminal length, and no, I don't post photos in a public forum like MLHH.

Hello,
As EdG and Jonalbear said, I found that :
- Short shirt (or shirt in the pants) make hair looks longer than a long shirt
-For my blond hair (the ends :)) darker is better !

Does this shirt make my beard look longer?

Not to me.
It really was a joke, man. [grin]

I suppose it depends where you waist line is with clothes!
Sorry, I had to do that.
Obviously, no clothing will make a crew cut look long... err, I mean, there is no style or color of clothing that will make a crew cut look longer.
I should think that anything that shows the contrast -- lighter colors for darker hair, and darker colors for blonds -- would only emphasize the endpoint, but if it blends, so you can't really see where the hair ends, it might look longer.
I was just watching a movie with a historical theme, an actress with long hair was wearing a long dress that was similarly colored to her hair, and I couldn't tell where her hair ended, so it looked almost floor length, until she was standing leaning against a paler wall, and you could see the end.
I would agree with you Juli. Hair gets thinner (or fans out just due to wind action) as it gets further from your scalp, and if people see less shirt through it, it will seem fuller. To some extent, people see your length as just down to where the fullness stops, so a shirt with less contrast will make your hair seem longer.
Avoiding shirts with high contrast patterns or sharp-edged geometric patterns that are very unlike the more gentle curves of hair will also help. Such are more noticeable and are more apt to be seen coming through.
Dark colors also reflect less light, and people expect darkness underneath a mane. Choosing dark shirts, especially black, can really help your mane look longer and fuller. Ever notice how many longhairs wear black!
