Hey guys,
You probably don't remember me, I posted here once a long time ago, and sometime thereafter, two Decembers ago, I was convinced to get a haircut for a semi-formal. Stupid mistake, but I had been convinced it would embarrass the girl I was taking and I wasn't that happy with how it had turned out myself. Anyway, since then I've had 1 or 2 trims but nothing major, and I've reached the first loosely set goal, which was to get it just past my shoulders. Hadn't really decided what to do past that. Been trying to think of what length would look best on me, either a length like this kind of Steven Tyler-like, or keep going for the full Axl Rose/Sebastian Bach kind of thing, so opinions there are appreciated.
(The far left pic is how I've kept it for years, I just took the right 2. I'm 19, by the way)
Another thing that's been bothering me: You can probably tell from the pics that right now my hair's pretty tangled and there's a lot of those little frizzy strands. I spend a lot of time trying to break up knots with my fingers, and usually at least one hair comes loose each time, aggravating my existing fears about losing hair due to my rather high forehead. I actually like the way it looks there volume-wise because when it's flatter it tends to follow my neck and then curve back up, but I need to do SOMETHING to get it to not tangle as much, because I can't imagine it's healthy for it and while my parents have been mainly supportive, I've recently gotten the complaint a lot that the back looks bad. I haven't gotten a trim in a long time, would that help?
Hi Vic,
pleasure to meet you! I'm rather new here. I actually like where your hair is right now, and I think it would look better even longer. Grow it out some more inches!
As for frizzy strands, you found the right person to ask! I'm a hairdresser at least an aspiring one. There are a variety of products you can use, but I would recommend looking for a styling milk or cream that you can gently apply over the frizzy strands. Don't go overboard though, too much will make you look like a greasehead! I would start off with a little dab like a nickel amount, run it in the palm of my hands, and then just gently apply it all over my hair. It might even work better if you bend over, flip your head down and apply the cream from the bottom sections of your hair and then work your way to the front part. Pleasure once again!<3
Thanks, I'll try to get out and see what I can find in the next few days. What's the stuff actually called, just styling cream?
Just go to any drug store pharmacy retail chain in your area. Or go to a big supermarket or a Walmart or a Target if your hometown has one. Just look for the hair products section, and look for any kind of hair product that says styling cream or styling creme. It will look exactly like a cream, white and creamy looking and you just apply it into your hair like I just described!
Hello Vic ! Welcome to MLHH !
Pretty hair, in my opinion. Don't worry, as I see, your forehead seems rather normal, maybe a bit higher than mine.
Concerning the tangles, you should comb it, maybe each day, and not accumulate it. The most important is to not break the knots but detangle it, so don't pull on it !
You look better with your long hair, by the way :)
Bye
Vivien
You're hair looks cool! I know what you mean about loosing hairs everytime ya comb but it's better to comb regularly cause the tangles will get worse if you leave them! Hope you choose to grow it longer!
That a good progress in the last two years. I suggest you keep it growing, even if other people are not too thrilled. That's what MLHH is for. As for me, 18 months ago, I have a cropped cut head. Now my hair is also touching my shoulders. Yes, when you are in the early stages of growing it out, you are going to go through an awkward phase, where your hair may get messy. This problem corrects itself when your hair gets long enough.
Regardless

Thanks. So this is still the 'awkward phase'? I thought I was done with that a while ago when it stopped sticking out at the sides.
