Hi Guys and gals.
Here are some recent pictures of my mane. My summer blonde effect is in full bloom. A substantial difference in color, naturally tinted and streaked by the Sun. Any other summer blondes or other natural color changers out there?

cool effect !
Nice update and the summer lightening looks sharp. I like the look of the trimmed beard...
Thanks for Sharing
Walter
Thanks Walter, I like the look of my beard neatly trimmed also.

Wow, great colour, the difference between it and your profile picture are remarkable! My hair has gotten abit lighter too but only at the ends, and would you believe just last night a completley purple hair came out of my head, it's the same thickness and stuff as my hair and I don't know anyone with purple hair, it's very confusing altogether, haha! (and no I haven't been wearing wigs, my friend asked me that when I told her xD)
Cillian, Wow a purple hair. Unique and very cool. I have many different colors of hair I have pulled or combed out. Mostly brown, red and blonde. Alas yes, a few grey ones too!

The color change is not THAT drastic, although it looks like it in the pictures, the first pic was taken in full bright sunlight and from a slight distance, the second was taken on a somewhat overcast day, there is still a significant difference, but the blonde in the summer barely ever looked that good, and as you can see in the second picture I started greying pretty bad at 16, also another big reason I started using henna. I looked at the pics next to each other and figured I would note that though it looks really drastic its not, silly sunlight playing tricks :P
Thanks Kett. I think you have a nice natural color.

Your hair has certainly lightened since we first met eight years ago! I wonder if it's not a natural change, though, or the effect of getting more graying hairs in the mix. Taking hair out of the sun usually does not darken it, and I see several years of Michigan's summer-winter cycles as your mane cascades down your back. What most longhairs get from the sun is a gradual lightening from roots to tips, often not noticeable until you hold your tips up by the hair coming out of the top of your head. Then the color shift will be very obvious.
Long ago when I was a kid and lived in Illinois, my 1/2 inch long hair would shift from black to brown each summer, and then it would go back to being black. That is just a month's growth, though, and by November all summer hair would be gone. My driver's license still says "black" for hair color, but the only black hair you'll find on me now is on the scruff of my neck deep under my mane - where the sun doesn't shine much.
On the back near my neck is also the place I am graying last, so my hair is very dark there. Sometimes for fun I'll ask people if they want to see my "natural hair color" and when I lift my mane up and they see that black hair, they are very surprised!
The last time I went to the DMV I asked the lady there what should be put for my hair color now that my mane has lots of colors and really doesn't look black anymore. She said since it hasn't gotten any predominant other color, just to leave it "black". (A typical DMV response, to make it match nothing that is seen there.) My beard of course is mostly white and it is much more noticed than my mane when I look at someone head on. It has grown to be huge since the last time I renewed my license. People now mostly see me as gray- or white-haired as a result, so maybe next time my hair color on my license will change.
One other matter to toss into the equation and confuse it all is that "black" in California is what people back in the Midwest call "jet black". Californians see what Midwesterners call "black" to be "dark brown".
Bill
Bill, Yes I am getting the slightest amount of "greying" mostly at the temples. my hair has lightened with the sun for many decades now. Always returning to a natural medium brown with auburn highlights. Maybe this is the year it will change for ever. Hoping it is like my Mother's hair that changed to a beautiful champagne beige starting in her early sixties.
I too have black hair at the base of my neck, which is covered and hidden (annoyingly I might add) by gray and white hair. Here's an interesting idea to contemplate: If you get that black hair transplanted up to the top of head hairline, will it stay black? I guess it's purely academic since it would cost too much to find out the hard way for one thing, but it's a fun thing to ponder. I'm guessing the follicles would begin to put out lighter colored hair after the move.
Rob, Interesting idea. I think you may be right!

Your hair looks pretty and I like the waves in it. I say your hair is brown-blonde.

My MySpace - feel free to add me as a friend
Thank you so much Regardless, Brown-blonde with shades of grey slowly creeping in!

It seems like I used to have a more pronounced "summer blonde" effect when I was younger; but it was always cut short then. However, my ends are noticeably lighter than my roots, and it's all natural.
Steve, You have beautiful naturally reddish blonde hair it seems. Nice length!

Great pics and spledid long hair Jonalbear. Take care and continue having a great Summer! :-)
Justin~
Justin, I will and thanks for the kind words!
Hi Jonalbear,
I am a little late to reply, since I just got home from my golf game just now, and what a fabulous update you have blessed it with! Your hair is so thick and LONG, and your curls are so healthy. You are genetically blessed to have the mane that you have, and I can only dream of growing mine as long or thick.
Keep it growing,
David
Why thank you David. You have a great mane yourself!

Hi Jonalbear, GREAT hair man, I have like texture hair, really gives me something to look forward to.
Thanks for sharing!
Frank
Frank, Thanks for the compliment! You also have
a great head of hair.

My hair gets to be a much lighter shade of blonde in the Summer. My eyebrows get ridiculously light blonde, almost white. Don't know why it works out that way for my hair.
Garth, Wow, white eyebrows. Interesting!

Hi JB!
Well not only do you have that natural coloring but your mane is breathtakingly thick!I'm always in awe when I see guys with hair so dense thats even at the ends there is now sign of thinning.Even though I have quite long hair there is always that feeling of how much better it would be with more volume.Anyway great photos as you look fabulous:)Hope you had a great weekend my friend.
Mark
Hi Mark, Thanks for your compliments. Thick hair can be a blessing and a curse. love the volume and wave myself but it can be difficult to manage at times.

Your hair is gorgeous, Jonalbear. My hair is also lighter near the ends due to weathering. One thing to remember is that what you see at the ends grew out of my head about 6 years ago.
Scott
Wow Scott, Amazing length for that amount of time.
Thanks for your kind words.
peace, jonalbear
Hi Jonalbear, yep mine does exactly the same, the ends are almost blonde too. Thats a superb looking mane you have there my friend.
~Dave
Thanks dave, You have a gorgeous head of hair yourself.

Sir Jonalbear, you are looking most gorgeous! I too am sporting some streaks of summer blonde.
- Oren
Oren, High praise indeed coming from the Lord of longhair!

Your hair looks great with its tinting. It's amazing what nature can do to us. Your hair is looking very impressive my friend. I would post up some pictures of my hair after bleaching in the sun, but unfortunatley our weather here in England is terrible. I reckon it's been around 20 celcius on average for the last week or so : /
Oh well : )
Neil
Neil, Thanks so much. Yes you need the sun to invoke the color. Always liked that Beatles lyric "You have to get a tan by standing in the English rain".
peace, jonalbear
Very cool pic Jonalbear. It's always impressive to see your posts as your hair is amazingly thick and of great curly/wavy texture. My hair is stranger even. I have medium-brown hair but (mostly noticeable in summer), I have plenty of blonde and even RED within my hair...I an 75% Scotch/Irish so that may come into play.
-Phil
Thanks Phil, I have a high percentage of
Scots/Irish ancestry as well.

What a nice, thick head of hair! I haven't noticed significant "sun effects" on my hair yet, but I'm sure I will at some point.
Mouse
Thank you very much. I bet yours would be a nice honeyed strawberry blondeear!
peace, jonalb
The hair looks stunning and in great shape
Have a great summer

Kevin, Thanks for the compliment. Have a great summer yourself.
