I wrote something here about my hair thinning a few months ago but I felt like I needed more advice because I'm getting very worried.
I've had long hair past my shoulders for nearly 5 years and its always been thick until about 6 months ago. It probably started thinning before that but I only noticed it this year. People always used to say that I was lucky because I showed no signs of balding and now it just seemed to start thinning rapidly.
I love my long hair I don't wanna have to get rid of it just beacause of this. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. This is a photo I took of my scalp, it makes me sick just looking at it.
But you have my sympathies. If your hairline isn't thinning too much you might look fine with a ponytail.
Hey Cava,
I went through the same thing in October of last year. I had noticed that I had temporal recession, but didn't think anything about it, then it seemed my hair thinnned out a bit, whereas my hair had always been VERY thick.
I visited my dermatologist and was proscribed finesteride(Propecia). It's expensive, but so far (3-4 months in) I'm actually seeing results, there are new hairs growing in my hairlines and my crown is luckily still in tact. I suggest you see a doctor to at least weigh your options and DEFINATLY read up about Propecia, especially becasue you're (I'm guessing) young like me; younger people have much more success with that drug.
As far as your photo goes, it's honestly not bad at all. For one thing, you're lucky you have long hair becasue if it was short, it would not be noticeably thin and you wouldn't have "caught" your hairloss. The fact that it's long means it's heavier and pulls on your part making it appear wider. The light from taking an above photo will make it look worse too, trust me. I'm guessing it would barely be noticeable if someone looked at it with the naked eye, the light hitting your part/scalp can make it look worse.
I wish you luck and please do not lose sleep over it, stress will mak it worse, and see your Doctor asap to help put yourt mid at ease. Take care my friend.

Well you've got good advice from Phil, go see a doctor about it.
There aren't any home remedies to fix it but there are drugs that can help.

Hey Cava,
I have a similar thing going on with my hair. I have naturally fine hair and my crown is sort of exposed much like yours. If I were you and you were so terribly worried about it, go check in with a doctor and he'll help you out. I've had thin hair on my scalp for years now though and it hasn't worsened any, its actually gotten better because I improved my washing routine as my hair is quite oily which makes my hair lay down more flat exposing my scalp more than it should.
Thanks guys the advice is much appreciated. I've started taking multi vitamins in the hope that that will help hehe. I'm going to go see a dermatologist and see what they say.
Accordings to what some of you said can hair thinning be temporary? I just automatically thought that it would probably all go which would be terrible because as I said I had very thick hair for a while but it seems to be a recent thing.
