I will occasionally be up Sunday nights around Midnight and come across a syndicated program called TMZ. It's sort of like a National Enquirer version of Enertainment Tonight/Access Hollywood. It has a bunch of twentysomethings sitting around a room talking with show producer Harry Levin about different celebrity sightings. I guess we're supposed to believe that this is a newsroom, because Levin ends up writing a bunch of names on a clear "white-board" during the program.
Their latest long-hair bashing centers around Celine Dion's seven-year old son, Rene Charles. I say leave the kid alone. A child that age doesn't deserve to be lambasted in the media, no matter how sleazy that media is.
The irony is that one of the show's twentysomethings, Max Hodges (a.k.a. "Surfer Dude"), has long blonde hair well on its way to being nipple-length.

It's always seemed so absurd to me that people will look at a female with long hair and say nothing but a guy with the same style and say "he needs a haircut". We'll never be mainstream but I think there's some gradual trend toward wider tolerance.
Check this more positive article that mentions Celine and Rene-Charles:
Chicago Tribune: ''long hair on boys is all the rage''
Yeah, it is something that bothers me as well. Double standards FTL... :(
So absurd is the TMZ article. I feel sad for Celine and his son when I read the comments. (But, there's is good comment at the end)
The second article from Gene W is far more positive. Fortunately !

Didn't look at the link but the kid looks cool! 8)
I read that article some time ago but I have to say I give Celine all the credit in the world for letting Rene-Charles make his own decision with his hair. Then again, I'm partial; I've adored Celine since I was 5, but letting her son just be himself makes me respect her all the more.

What a lovely son she haves.
People have no right to criticize something as natural as hair. He looks good with long hair. Would he look better with short hair? Maybe (I doubt it). But it's his choice to cut it, no one elses. I respect Celine Dion for respecting her son's mane.
Right Brad,
He's a little boy for God's sake; those TMZ dudes need their asses kicked for pickin on a little kid for ratings and money. That stupid show makes money off of making fun of people. Irony INDEED with "Spicoli", his hypocracy brings shame to this community.

. . . just think he will have to listen to her singing in the shower every day. Poor kid.
