Is there any place on the net where men talk about wearing long
hair wigs? No I'm not a cross dresser, and I know it goes against
what alot of you guys think, but some of us can't have the glory
of wearing our hair long because of jobs, school, etc.
I actually do this - go out in public occasionally with a very long hair wig, posing completely as a normal, heterosexual male with really long hair. I always wear a hat to hide the fact that I am wearing a wig, and I always get at least some nice compliments from young women. I'm amazed to find that someone else either does this or likes it. Tell me more.
To tell you the truth, I have never actually done this yet. I only played with the thought of it. I have been looking at various wig stores on the internet, and there are a couple that appeal to me. There is one called the Celine, that has a Bob cut, long, and VERY smooth and straight. I just don't know how I'd look with it. The Godiva is also very nice.
I see where Celina and Godiva would work! I use EXTRA WILD.
go to WWW.Wigs,Com
i'd love to try sabrina......mambo ........leslie and brittany.....
what do u think?

Those look pretty good as well! I particularly like the Mambo, and the Leslie would be good for a shoulder length effect. Thanks for the feedback!
Well, after reading this thread I got busy with my new digital camera. I'm tired of seeing questions on this board, "don't you have a picture?" and I wanted to put my money where my mouth was, so to speak. :-)
I have four wigs that I wear around occasionally. Left to right, a short straight style, a mid-length wavy style ("Wild Cat" from www.wigs.com), a mid-back straight brown wig, and a similar style in honey blond. The last two were custom fabricated for me from a sketch that I faxed to a wig company in NYC. All have had a little trimming and styling along the way.
A few posters mentioned wearing hats to cover up the fact that it was a wig. You won't need to do this if you look for a wig that has a skin top (a small circle of flesh-colored latex into which the hairs on the top of the head are imbedded), and can find a style that has enough hair in front (bangs work) to cover the break between your forehead and the wig's hairline. Both of these points help to make the overall look much more natural. I believe "godiva" has a skin top, but the front of the wig at the hairline has quite a noticeable transition to your forehead.
There's really no difference between a "man's wig" and a "women's wig" . In order to make a women's wig more natural looking on a man's head , it needs to be 'randomized', that is, trimmed and cut so that it's not so smooth and sleek. A pair of hair thinning scissors (special serrated blades with tiny notches--available at most large drugstores) goes a long way towards this randomizing process. A wig right out of the box just will not look right; it's too perfect.
I'm definitely going to check out the Scissor Wizards when I'm in NYC. Some of their work looks very good! And I've had excellent results with products from wigs.com, too.
Anyone who wants to chat about this feel free to email me.

I've been reading the posts on this board for some time now. I myself cannot wear long hair because of job policy. But I invite the idea to wear a long hair wig. I had considered it some time ago, but never actually went through with it. I'm glad to see some people who actually do this. A previous post talked about wigs.com, and referred to a wig called the Celine. I looked at it and I think it would look great.
Rob, I have a digital camera myself, and would consider e-mailing pictures when I decide to try it. With the hustle and bustle of the holidays....
I hope to see more talk about this, and hopefully a separate board devoted to this.
Yeah, it just needs a little of that 'randomizing' process I mentioned. It's a little _too_ smooth right out of the box, I think. But it does have the skin top, and the front bangs will hide the edges very nicely.
Email me anyway, with or without pictures! I have a few more I might share, and maybe could post them on an ftp site so as not to clog up this board.
I'll look into that! Maybe Victor can provide some pointers towards setting up a webboard.
Happy holidays to all! (GREAT poem, Tigg!)
Rob
Feel free to post them to ftp.the-light.com/pub/ if you like. Post a message here so people can view the pictures.
I don't know of any pictures but I also would like to be able to wear a long wig just for fun, keep us posted if you find anything
Tim
I like to wear a long wig in public also.
you can get a wig at any wig shop!!!
but...most of the time I have to wear a hat to be convincing...
yes...lets keep this discussion going.......

Try mail-order. A salon is a good place to get ideas too. Pick up womens hairdo mags from a grocery store. Lots of good mailorder stuff there.
wearing long hair using hair additons, systems or wigs seems to be very popular. one web site:www.diamondhard.com/sponsors/sizrwzrd/sizrwzrd.htm, has 3 sections: first shows a good men's long hair wig.the sports part shows a really nice long wig and the 3rd part shows rock long hair wigs. the other site isn't as good, but shows one decent long men's wig:
www.netguard.net/hairintl/mens.htm
hope this helps, like to see what comments anyone has on them

I just spoke to Linda at Scissor Wizards in CA on the phone; she's sending me a brochure to take a look at. I asked her how some of the specific clients on the web page were 'done', either with a wig, extensions, etc., but she declined to be specific. I think it was more her being unsure of which of the pictures I was asking about rather than being evasive. Everything they do is a custom job.
BTW, the New York City office has closed; she promised to get the web pages brought up to date now that it was brought to her attention.
Rob
would you please post what you think of scissor wizards brochure when you get it and perhaps some more pictures?

I have been wearing wigs off an on for the past 5 year. When I want a lower back length look, it works great.
